It’s so Awesome having a sit in meal that’s authentic Mexican food, barely any Tex mex. The staff is amazing and the service is quick considering the time and effort they put in the meals. If you are a quesadilla fan, I highly HIGHLY recommend the tlayluda! So addicting and bigger and better. Omg and the lunch specials are phenomenal and there’s even some with thin slabs of steak which I appreciate so much over the weird squiggly beef you get at other places. The atmosphere is cozy inside with a beautiful bar and the patio is awesome and has a nice modern feel to it. I love the lunch chilaquiles with the steak. I wasn’t sure whether to get the red or green salsa with them so I asked for both and they were so kind to plate it up for me and it was not only beautiful but so delicious! Who knew chips soaked in savory and spicy salsa could be so good!? I also have tried the Enfrijoladas which is similar except the chips are soaked in a black bean sauce- honestly I couldn’t pick my favorite and only wish there was a trio plate! The eggs come how you request them and even they had such good flavor I didn’t even need the salt or pepper. Every thing I have ordered here (which is a lot now) has been a hit honestly. The flavors are on point, the salsa is delicious and has several profiles to it so it’s not that basic red salsa that has zero spices, and the portions are decent for the price. I seriously cannot say enough great things about this restaurant. When you order make sure to ask for the bottles of hot salsa- it’s the orange and green ones homemade, they are bomb and you won’t regret it if you like a lil heat. Also, The margaritas are delicious and come in clay pots which just seems to taste better. See you soon Queztal! 🩷

The service for me went over all great! We were taken to our table immediately by our waiter and seated in a booth. Small issues did arise at this point but nothing angering or hard to fix. I ordered a tall Budweiser with some Bloody Mary mix on the side and wasn’t ID’d, which is mainly a staff concern, I was thankfully above age. The Budweiser came but the mix did not. I asked for it politely again and there was either a language barrier or he just didn’t know what it was so he sent another server over to ask me what it was I was looking for. They had it brought out and corrected shortly after. I went out of my comfort zone a bit because I typically order camarones a la Diablo. The food presentation was on point! The food was still visibly steaming hot, well prepared, and the variety in my dish was impressive. Fish, scallops, crab, shrimp, cheese, peppers, onions, avocado, and cactus. The flavor of the dish was a little on the fence for me though. You could tell there was a sauce in it but whatever the sauce was had no flavor. Each bite definitely tastes mostly like whatever meat it was being eaten at the time. But that could be exactly what they’re going for because again, this isn’t a dish I typically eat but had to try because it just looked way too good! I will be returning and this time am going to try the camarones a la Diablo so I can see if the flavor there is more of what I’m looking for. I am excited to give it another chance! Great atmosphere, attentive staff, and wide selections.

The best meal we had while in Hot Springs. It is a nice restaurant and bar with an outdoor dining area. The food is advertised as authentic Qaxacun, in reference to the state of Qaxaca Mexico, which according to Google Maps is south of Texas. Way, way south of Texas. So, think traditional lightly seasoned Mexican food, although our delicious meals and the salsas had plenty of spice and flavor. I would have rated Quetzal Authentic Mexican Cuisine with full five stars, but the service was fumbled. We were seated promptly by a young lady that quickly disappeared for an unreasonable time period. Finally, the bartender noticed that were not being served and asked another waiter where our waiter was. That waiter shrugged her shoulders. The bartender sent her over. The displeasure of having to cover for her co worker was obvious. We got our orders in. Our waitress reappeared later, but had to be summoned for the check. The poor service was rewarded appropriately in the tip. Back to the food. My wife had the enchiladas and I had the relleno. Both were very attractive plates of food that delivered flavor to match. Very good meals Judging from the way the restaurant appeared to function over all, I would say the misstep in our service was a one off. I recommend Quetzal Authentic Mexican Cuisine if you are looking for very good Mexican food. If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've probably been there.

My grandson and I dined at your restaurant yesterday afternoon (26 January 2025). After our meal, while driving back to Camden, both of us began experiencing stomach pains. Initially, we didn't connect it to the food we had just consumed. However, by 10 pm, I was suffering from severe diarrhea and vomiting, which continued every hour until around 5 am this morning (27 January 2025). My grandson also started showing the same symptoms and remains bedridden.

I am slowly recovering but still frequently visiting the bathroom. I have tried calling the restaurant at the number listed on your website, but after 5-6 rings, the call goes to a busy signal. I will continue trying to reach the manager to inform them of our situation. If my grandson does not improve by this evening, he will need to visit urgent care. If I am not better by tomorrow, I will head to the ER.

We have been unable to do anything as we are both confined to the bathroom. I have tried drinking water, but it comes back up. We vomited everything we ate yesterday. If I do not receive a response from this review or my attempts to contact via phone, I will dispute the charges for our meal and seek reimbursement for any medical expenses incurred from our visits to the ER and urgent care. I have photos of what we vomited last night and early this morning, as well as pictures of the meals we ate and the receipt.

This has been a very unpleasant experience. I trust that restaurants do their best to ensure their customers do not get food poisoning. I look forward to hearing back from someone associated with the restaurant, and in the meantime, I will continue to call...
