Very cozy kitchen, just like you would hope for. We were in the area for an event and just happened to find the perfect little hole in the wall. My husband got the Swiss mushroom burger ( I stole a bite) it was amazing and very large, anywhere else would have charged $15 easy for that and not be as good but it was like $11 and perfection. My son had 3 pancakes and bacon for $8.50 and they were massive and yummy. Other son had a regular cheeseburger that was delicious and he couldn't get over it being the size of his face lol. I had the liver and onions with greens, black eyed peas and corn bread 🤤🤤🤤 it's really hard to find a place that sells liver much less one that does it well and theirs was perfect! Super tender flavorful and didn't have the gamey taste. The staff is small but very attentive, never had to ask for refills or to go boxes they were ahead of the game. Everything was really fresh and even with that the wait wasn't too long. Definitely willing to drive the 35 minutes to come back, great food, great prices, and...
Read moreThis place was not great...no one greeted me as I walked in. Initially thought it was a donut shop or something. Eventually someone advised me to take a seat and would give me a menu. I ordered 2 pancake breakfast w/sausage, egg, hash browns and a Dr. Pepper. The waitress placed a half used bottle of syrup on the table while I waited. The scrambled eggs was a little runny and the hash browns had no crust to them, just mushy potatoes. There was a lady/waitress that kept hovering around the dinner area and looking at me while I waited and ate. Strange, never said a word, just looking. I ate what I could and left to pay. The cashier couldn't figure out my check, it look like the waitress wrote my order over another order ticket. Finally the hovering lady came over to help and rang my check item by item vs as the breakfast plate i ordered. $19( for one person mind you) later. I paid and the lady give me a Jesus card asking me if I've turned my life over to him.
I would not recommend this...
Read moreThis place is a Hempstead Hwy staple. First the good. Stopped in for breakfast. Had a waffle combo. Service was prompt and courteous. The people make you feel at home. The food was fresh and perfectly cooked. Fluffy scrambled eggs, perfectly cooked bacon, crisp but not overly so, not too thin or thick. Waffle was crisp, hot and not soggy. I ate it last, and even after it had cooled it still tasted good. The only bad is the atmosphere. The interior is old, worn out and just in desperate need of new everything. Paint, flooring and tables. The entire center needs a face-lift, and looks way sketchier than it really is. But it's definitely worth trying for breakfast or lunch. They also have a selection of kolache's, muffins, breakfast sandwiches and Danish if you are looking to duck in for...
