Arpi’s Phoenicia Deli – A Decent Stop, But Not For Me I recently visited Arpi’s Phoenicia Deli after hearing some buzz about it, and while I can see why others might enjoy it, it just wasn’t the spot for me. The food was good—not bad by any means—but it didn’t blow me away either. I sampled a few different dishes, hoping something would really stand out, but unfortunately, most of them just didn’t hit the mark for my personal taste. And that’s coming from someone who loves Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. I’ve had similar dishes at other restaurants that were more flavorful, better presented, and even more affordable. One thing I will say I was pleasantly surprised by: they had sugar-free baklava, which made me so happy! That was probably the highlight of my visit. It’s not often you find sugar-free options for desserts like that, and it was a nice touch for someone like me who tries to be mindful of sugar intake. So, kudos to them for that! The atmosphere of the restaurant, though, left a little to be desired. It wasn’t as clean as I would have liked—tables had leftover trays and trash on them, and it seemed like things weren’t being cleared promptly. That really impacted the overall experience for me. The customer service was okay—not bad, not great. The staff were polite enough, but nothing really stood out in terms of hospitality or attentiveness. All in all, I think Arpi’s has its place and could be worth checking out if you’re curious or if this kind of food is new to you. But for someone who’s had a lot of experience with Mediterranean food, and who knows what they love, it just didn’t leave a lasting impression. I’m glad I gave it a try, but I wouldn’t personally go back.

Wow. Absolutely love this place. The food is amazing. Just about everything in Phoenicia Specialty Foods is served in here. The wife and I both ordered the Lamb Shawarma over rice pilaf. I ordered the beet salad and cauliflower and she ordered the tabouli and babaganoush. The sides were just as flavor packed as the lamb. This meal also comes with pita, which was perfect to sop up all the stuff you can't get with a fork. We also ordered a Cheese Puff, which is made to order. Crispy on the outside and surprisingly cold with salty cheese on the inside. What a combo. Would get that again in a minute. Also ordered veggie and meat grape leaves. Could have crushed 10 more. The Almaza beer to wash it all down hit the spot. The service here is top notch. Happy to help and provides great recommendations. Oh, and the Baklava (not pictured) is absolutely decadent. This place, along with Phoenicia Specialty Foods is a true Houston gem.

The food was cold, the meat tasteless, it seemed like it was leftovers from the previous day, many mistakes in the order too expensive but that’s not the problem if the food is good the price don’t matter food honestly taste bad you can see how nasty it looks in the picture lamb shawarma it’s call the gyro ok say lamb gyro be specific never coming back and other customers around our table complain about the food and customer service just the people that has never eat real Mediterranean food can eat this garbage because they can’t tell the difference this won’t happen if you eat a American restaurant they are not professional just greedy owners that care about profits not quality

Oh boy . My family and I came here for dinner , after trying to find a clean table , we decided to just sit on one and clean it ourselves. I went to order . She asked me Here or to go . I said here , Place 2 chicken wrap with 2 side and 2 wrap by it self . After we received attitude with server , they brought the food on the to go Box ! I specifically mentioned for here . Then we tried to eat but because it was in the Togo box we couldn’t really eat our side . So I went to the counter again and asked the over the counter guy that I ordered it for here and not to go . He said I can give you a bowl and you do it yourself , I said absolutely not . I’ll bring back the Togo and you give me my side on the bowl just like I asked for . My daughter and wife had one of two spoon of those side . When I gave it back to them . She literally grabbed the main spoon for theirs side on the counter , and scoped up the side that they put it on the to go box and put it on the bowl …. This is just beyond cheap . Not only that , as I mentioned we ate some of them not much a spoon or two . But we ate from them

She used the yogurt spoon from the display counter , scoop up our yogurt from the to go box and put it in the bowl and put the spoon back in the yogurt on display …. Wait Whaat , then grabbed the salad Spoon and scooped our salad in the bowl and put the spoon again back on the salad on display….. Same to baba Ganoosh and Rice

I could t believe my eyes .

This was the first resturant that I have seen do such a thing …. I’m not sure why she did that . This violates so many health codes . And they were about to close as well , so they had plenty of the sides left . They could have easily put them out and put some fresh ones on the bowl but instead they did this

I’m not sure they did that because they think I wanted trick them to get more side because I ate a soon or two of them … or what

But this was not just weird and stupid , it was nasty and health problem . Now my daughter is 4 years old with cold … I feel bad for the people who are going to order some of those sides because she scooped our food that we ate with the same spoon that she serve food for the rest of the guest and not only that she puts it back in the jar …..

Oh boy . If they did that to me I can only imagine how many more times they did to other people and this is just Nasty 🤮🤧🤢

I don’t normally write bad reviews but this was just nasty . The men over the counter and the woman that was serving the food were completely oblivious to all this health issues ……

I don’t recommend anyone eat here . I know I...

Food was tampered with. (excuse the poor formatting, I tried not to make this a wall of text but google+ insists on making it one. PLEASE READ). I was out of town visiting relatives in Houston, when we agreed to eat some Lebanese. I was with my mother and two cousins, who claim to eat here almost every week. This is first time I ever showed up to this place, and I thought one of them said something snide to one of his friends about me (because I was wearing cheap clothes and looked like a total dweeb) so I just shook my head, which may or may have not provoked what was to come. Going through the Deli, I kept seeing suppressed smiles from some of the deli workers as I was getting sides after ordering a wrap.

We received our wraps and my cousins sat down before me, as I was getting my drink (and pita chips) and they already had theirs.

The clerks kept staring at us with a funny look, and everyone at my table, INCLUDING my two relatives that eat here often, said their wrap tasted funny. I tasted mine and mine tasted HORRENDOUSLY funny.

Our table kept getting gazed at by multiple of the workers, a couple smirked as they gazed. I even made eye contact with the chef and he had a surreptitious smile that faded as quickly as he broke eye contact with me. A couple of minutes later one of the workers from behind the deli audibly said something about "sauce", my oldest cousin heard this too. In fact, it was the sauce that my relatives said what made it taste funny. I tried to express to them my concern about them tampering with our food, but they dismissed me with being paranoid. After sitting down for a bit, I begin to notice a faint smell that could be accurately described as smelling someone's behind.

I thought someone farted, so I checked my shoes and asked my two relatives about it. They said they noticed it when they sat down at the table, whenever I was busy getting my soft drink and pita chips. Presumably, it came from the wrap because I did not notice it until I had my wrap wide open and I was poking around in it.

I post this under my spam email account, since my said relatives that laughed dismissed me as "paranoid" have me in their circles on my other google plus account. Do not come eat here if you want to trust the people who handle your food. Absolutely disgusting. I should've done something about it but I was discouraged by my mother and two cousins and there was nothing that occurred to me which I could do at that time.

Edit: There's even another review in here that claims the workers to be rude! I'm not...

I took my wife and son for shawarma sandwiches and couple of side orders. We have been customers for over 30 years before they changed locations. We know their food is extremely overpriced and their customer service is below zero, but the reason for continuing to eat their sandwiches is because they are as close as possible to the ones you buy in the Middle East. Today they surprised me when they said they wanted to charge me 50 cents extra for each of the sauces that always were free with the sandwiches. Without the sauces, their sandwiches are worthless because they are dry and tasteless. It is actually the garlic sauce, tahini, and hot sauce that makes them tasty. So I told the cashier the sauces have always been complimentary. She said they’re instructed to charge 50 cents but she was willing to give us one sauce per sandwich. I told her no I want minimum of 2 sauces plus hot sauce with each sandwich. Here comes the guy who wanted to help his colleague and made the matter worse. He said to me that all restaurants charge extra for sauces due to high inflation, and high cost of food. I blew up at that moment and told him they were after pennies nowadays because of greed. I told him not to ever blame other restaurants or the high inflation because their prices are high to start with and the stupid excuse he gave me did not justify the extra charge for the sauces which without them, their sandwiches are worthless and tasteless. Then he said again that all restaurants charge for sauces. I told him to stop the nonsense and blame the greed on himself for being so cheap for using every opportunity to get a penny out of the customers. I said I wasn’t paying for the darn sauce. I was willing to ask for a refund and leave. I do not have any respect for opportunists and this restaurant is the master of that. I will no longer eat or shop at Arpies Phoenicia Deli or the Phoenicia store. The owners are rude with subzero customer service and most importantly opportunistic to grab any penny they can grab. I give them one star because the zero star is not an option otherwise I would have. I do not recommend this place anymore and certainly will never eat their ever again. It is sad to see as the rich gets richer, their behavior becomes stingier and their greed becomes...
