Charleys Cheesesteaks and Wings — Restaurant in Houston

Okay so where do I begin? I guess with the cashier at Walmart: her name is Rhe. I asked her about Charleys (which is inside Walmart) and she told me how delicious the wings were, so I said okay let me give them a try - so, I went to the counter at Charleys and I encountered - no pun intended - the GM by the name of Kim; she was so super friendly and so informative! I informed her that this was my first visit at Charleys and I didn't really know what to order except the recommendation of the wings from the cashier and she asked me if I wanted to sample one (Yeah!!) so she brought over a boneless classic chicken nugget wing (They were out of the bone in wings) and it was so so good!! I really wanted an order of the one I tasted, but I love sauce and flavors. So I asked her about all the other flavors and she recommended the Korean BBQ wings...yum😋 she also said that the Mango habanero wings are a hot seller (OMG another unintended pun.. I promise I'm not trying to do this; I'm just realizing it after the fact lol) and she gave me some spicy sauce (I forgot what it's called) that she says she dips her fries in and I did the same thing with my fries when I got home and that food was so delicious!!! I couldn't decide whether the Korean BBQ was better than the Mango habanero they were both equally delicious!! When I got done getting done with the get down I had to call up there to the store to give her a personal thank you for her delicious recommendations and for her excellent customer service!! And let me not forget to mention she gave me a free drink on the house... that was an oxymoron - free drink on the house.. oh well, I'll leave it - anyways, she mixed it up for me, per my request of watermelon strawberry and peach and it is so delicious!! I know I keep using the word "delicious" but I don't know how else to explain all this goodness! Anyways, it has real fruit in it - it's so... you know;) Oh, she also told me that they have customer appreciation day on Thursdays and Fridays, where they give away free food when you make a purchase and that I should come back by... and with GREAT food and EXCELLENT customer service like that - you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be back!!! She even put the Customer Appreciation Specials brochure in the bag for me. She's Top Notch!! I observed her interactions with the rest of the co-workers - her subordinates - and it was like watching a group of family and friends interacting. It was such a fun and chill atmosthere. They all seem to get along and work very well together. Like the saying, "The team is only as good as the coach" - It was ALL GOOD up in there!!!! The food, the friendliness, the folks... no jokes!! It's just ok. The sad part is I probably won't go back... It's missing something that I cannot put my hands on. This place has potential, but.... I really don't know what it is missing. Maybe the love of cooking the food, Maybe it's to clean decor. A philly cheese steak is a messy sandwich. Meat, bell pepper,and mushrooms should be falling off the sandwich when I take my first bit. The clean decor from the outside look of the building, and Inside looks really nice. It draws me in, but the expectation for a messy sandwich is what I'm expecting. Maybe the QUALITY of meat, Quality sirloin, season on the meat ( salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, marjoram, and basil) (placing it in a small bowl, and then Placing the beef in a large bowl next sprinkling the seasoning mixture over top and stir to coat) caramelized onions, red, green and yellow bell peppers sitting in a corner on the grill charred waiting for me to order them, QUALITY stringy mozzarella cheese, QUALITY mild or sharp provolone, a QUALITY Marinara sauce, marinade meat, nice grilled buttered hoagie bun... I really don't know. I'm just rambling, and thinking 🤔💭. I hope they figure it out because I really want to like this place.

(20 mins later) I had to come back. The cups are too nice. I don't need nice looking cups with the store logo. The fountain drinks were flat. The sandwich is too pretty, and gives me a little spread cheese on the bun not too much just a little. The menu holds me at the register too long. Give me more pictures and less words. Charley's came to my life extremely randomly, I have never heard of it until today! I was in Walmart and just got done with doing inventory at all three of my properties, I currently manage in Houston, and I saw this restaurant in the Walmart that I had never seen before. The pictures looked delicious, and I just had to try one of their cheesesteaks. The Walmart I frequent in Atlanta has a Subway inside of it and I'll be honest I am not a fan of Subway, I was starving while shopping then suddenly I was overcome with joy because I got to try a new place. When I got to the register there was no one in line so I was taking my sweet time making my choices, I ended up going with the classic cheesesteak and a real blueberry lemonade, the cashier was really young and we had a casual conversation while my food was being made. I got my order and I was so hungry I decided that I was going to eat right then and there. The space was really big, they had plenty of tables and chairs, they actually had a cool backdrop and throne you can take pictures on! It's really cool to see. If I had someone with me, I would have taken a flick. The food was tasty, I honestly don't know if it was because I had not eaten all day, and my taste buds were heightened, but my cheesesteak tasted a bit salty. Again, in their defense, I worked out and played basketball all day without eating, so that could throw my taste out of whack.
