I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chuck’s Cajun Kitchen, the newly opened crawfish and seafood restaurant in town, and it's truly one of the best. I was particularly impressed by the special 13 flavors of Chinese-style crawfish, which were intensely flavorful and left me speechless. The jumbo shrimp from Louisiana, although I don't know their name, had a crispy texture, sweetness, and an irresistible flavor with the special-made whole sha bang. The gumbo was also a delightful, flavorful, and generously portioned dish.
The freshness of all the crawfish and seafood was evident in their super sweet taste. The pricing is extremely reasonable, offering a wide variety, including the flavored Parmesan cheese chicken wings and they are crispy outside, juicy inside so is the Vietnamese lemon pepper chicken. Every dish was simply amazing, and the owner, who personally served us, was exceptionally nice and patient. He explained the different flavors, making our dining experience even more enjoyable.
The feast-like presentation of our orders made the dining experience visually appealing, and the taste was superb. I'll definitely be returning, and upon sharing my experience, my friends are eager to try the 13th flavor Chinese style. Chuck’s Cajun Kitchen comes highly recommended for its fantastic food, friendly service, and reasonable prices – a great place to bring friends and family, definitely the best seafood...
Read moreWhat a disaster. The previous customer reviews gotta be family & friends or bought… ain’t no way people who live in Houston and have access to all great Cajun restaurants would give this place more than 2 stars.
The layout inside doesn’t make sense - more than half of the room is completely empty. Felt like a takeaway place with few sit down options. Floor and tables are a bit sticky. Service was friendly - no complaints on that. But the utensils are ridiculous: no aprons and the gloves are made from the cheapest material I have ever seen - it literally rips even if you pull a little. Had to use three pairs, to get one on my hand.
And all that was not even the worst part. But the food. The “live” crawfish (which is their signature) was horrible. Very small crawfish, not properly washed/clean and overcooked. You know that’s overcooked when the meat is mushy and falls apart. Only half of crawfish was “live” the other half was frozen - that you know when the shell is very soft. The signature “Chinese 13 spices seasoning” was flavorless - which made the corn and potatoes also tasteless. Shrimp étouffée had unproportional amount of liquid, making it more a soup than an étouffée. The rice was tasteless.
I hope for the sake of this restaurant that my experience was an exception. Otherwise it wont stay open longer than couple months in a city like Houston with...
Read moreThey crawfish here if of the highest quality that you can purchase anywhere in Houston, and the wide variety of flavors offered at Chuck’s will take you on a unique culinary journey that is simply inimitable. They offer a garlic flavored crawfish boil, which is a creative culturally advised spin on the traditional Cajun crawfish. We also ordered the shrimp fried rice, which was perfectly moderated in grease and had a rich, authentic flavor that is difficult to find outside of China. The owner and staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment to enjoy a meal. Chuck’s is a highly underrated restaurant that transcends the culturally diverse palate of the Houston community. I highly recommend everyone...
