This was the worst food I have ever eaten from a mexican restaurant. I had to wait outside for half an hour before being attended. Then once inside i saw this small crowded not so clean restaurant and yet still had to wait another 15 min. The palce was also full of drunk people. I put all of that aside because well i thought the food was going to be good. The only thing i can say that was good about this place was the horchata i got. In total i payed 85$. My parents got some cabrito asado (which was the size of a chicken leg) and that was so plain no flavor at all. The barbacoa also plain and no taste to it and both had a tun of fat on them. My sisters and i just ordered some nachos. WORST NACHOS OF MY LIFE!!!!! the chips were stale as if they were out for like a whole month. and the fajita oh my god was terrible salty and had alot of fat. I was so disappointed with the food quality that i ended up walking out after only eating about two or three chips. And then we had to pay cash because apparently this place doesn't accept debit. only cash. Which is just total BS just so that they can keep all the money and not report it in their taxes.Come to find out later they still ended up charging me for the nachos. I was so mad and i had to leave that restaurant before i cussed all of those people out for calling that food. I went to a Thai Restaurant right next door and that place was so much better it was way cleaner better atmosphere and the food was really good. The food at El Hidalguense was so bad it gave my mom and dad diarrhea.I am so happy i didn't do more than just taste that food. Never go to this place unless you want to get some bad mexican food that is going to cheat you out of your money.

Cabrito and barbacoa are not easy to make and the love and time that it takes shows so let's see how it goes!!!
First off!! My husband said "Está solo!!" Which means "empty spot" for us lol but I said nahhhh let's give it a try!! It's good that it's not packed lol so we can enjoy. We could see the lady "server" from the window getting ready with menus for us so that was very nice to see she was paying attention!!
We ordered drinks: horchata and Mexican coke and OMG the horchata is on point! Just enough cinnamon and the rice flavor is amazing!!! Homemade for sure!!!!
We asked for the queso fundido and chorizo as appetizer! Very creamy and cheesy!!! Chorizo is savory and the salsa they bring at the beginning with 2 flautas is super super spicy but delicious so try it out!!
Homemade tortillas is a must!!!! Very thick and perfect size and flavor!!!!
Waiting on the charola for 2 which comes with cabrito, barbacoa, flautas, consomé and refried beans and yummm nopales!!! We wanted to try both out so the lady advices to get this!!! Can't wait!!!

Both cabrito and barbacoa are very soft! Melts in your mouth and the flavor is on point!!! Nailed it 100% MEXICO on the table!!!
The consome with garbanzo and rice is so heartwarming!! So savory!!

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of enjoying a brunch at El Hidalguense, and the experience was nothing short of a culinary embrace.
The moment I entered, I was enveloped by the tantalizing aromas of authentic Mexican cuisine, a scent that instantly transported me back to cherished memories of home-cooked meals. The sauces, a true testament to the craft, were worlds apart from the commonplace Tex-Mex offerings. Each spoonful was a symphony of flavors, rich and nuanced, evoking the warmth and love of my grandmother’s kitchen.
The lamb ribs were the star of the brunch. Each bite was a revelation, the meat tender and succulent, marinated to perfection with handmade tortillas. The smoky, savory flavor danced on my palate, a delicate balance that spoke of tradition and expertise. The crisp edges added a delightful contrast, making every morsel a celebration of taste and texture.
As the meal drew to a close, we were treated to a dessert that was the epitome of comfort – arroz con leche. This creamy, sweet rice pudding, with its gentle hint of cinnamon, was like a warm embrace from home. Each spoonful was a nostalgic journey, a perfect harmony of sweetness and spice that left a lingering sense of contentment.
El Hidalguense is more than just a restaurant; it is a gateway to the heart and soul of true Mexican cuisine. For those seeking a brunch experience that resonates with the authenticity and warmth of home, this place is an...
