Sesame Hut — Restaurant in Houston

I recently tried the Shrimp Chicken Fried Rice combo at Sesame Hut, and it was very satisfying. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were on point. This dish made for delicious leftovers as well. However, I was a bit disappointed with the small cocktail shrimp they used, especially being in Houston, where I expected larger shrimp. Sesame Hut has a long-standing presence in the area, and it's evident why; I found them on Yelp's top 10 recommendations for grub. As a pleasant surprise, I received a complimentary order of onion rings after inquiring about their best dishes. I'll definitely be returning for another visit soon. While you can choose to sit and eat there, it seems that most people opt for takeout, which was convenient. The price was also reasonable, and those onion rings were absolutely fantastic. the staff at Sesame Hut were pleasant. Friendly and accommodating service can greatly enhance the dining experience. Most of the reviews mention Northwest Mall. I used to eat at that location every week, then our office moved further away, and later the mall closed. The other day I was thinking of my favorite comfort foods and I remembered Sesame Hut, and discovered the new location. I went for lunch today (the new location is only 10 minutes from my current office -- wish I'd have known several years ago).

Anyway, it has exactly the same menu as before and the dish I had today, the Hot and Spicy Chicken, tastes exactly the same as it did before. It left me feeling pretty happy. I love the other dishes as well, and plan to return every couple of weeks.

I asked the owner about the woman who ran it at the mall, and he said she was his wife, but that she had passed away several years earlier.

Good food but bad time estimating. I really like the food here but half of the time I come to pick up my food, it is not ready. I always order ahead of time as I only have a 30 minute lunch break. Today I ordered and was told 15-20 minutes for pickup. No problem at all. I wait about 20 minutes before leaving my job. I get here and it is not ready. It has now been an hour since I ordered and it is still not ready. Needless to say, I waisted my entire lunch break already just waiting on the food. I understand things can get behind but for it to take 3-4 times the amount of time I was told on the phone is not good. I would like to continue eating here but I really can't waste my entire lunch break sitting at the restaurant and...
