I must say that this location has amazing service and food cooked to perfection. Came by to have dinner with my wife on 06/27/2025 at around 9:30 pm right before closing and I must say that we were still received with a smile and great attitudes. I honestly want to say that what really stood out to me beside the delicious food was the service I received from the staff including Devin!!! I believe Devin is the manager, but he is an amazing manager with an amazing personality well mannered great attitude and willing to go above and beyond. I was well aware that I had stopped by right before they closed and an item that I wanted was not available because they had already empty the grease pan and turned off the flame and I told him not to worry that next time we swung by we would order that item and after receiving our order and eating there for about 15-20 minutes he came out with our yuca frita. To me, that meant alot to me because after cleaning the grease out he was willing to go the extra mile to drop fresh grease and light up the stove again. Devin and his crew really value the customer and I'm thankful for that. I highly recommend the fajita parrillada fajita quesadillas yuca frita fried plantains cantaloupe water....they are all extremely delicious and I can't wait to go back Thank you to El Rey Taqueria for such an amazing experience and...
Read moreThe owner is racist!!!
On May 22nd, I visited El Rey, & ordered a salmon burrito, it was my first time.
Regrettably, my return visit on May 24th. A different staff member informed me that ordering a salmon burrito was not an option, then tried to charge me $25. Despite explaining that I had done so just two days prior, I was met with disbelief and hostility from a person who identified themselves as the owner.
This encounter quickly escalated into an unpleasant confrontation, with the owner adamantly denying the existence of such an option and resorting to unwarranted accusations, called me a liar stating I did not order a salmon burrito and even threatened to call the police because I was upset, being called a liar. The situation deteriorated to the point where I felt discriminated against, with the owner's actions.
Fortunately, I retained proof of my prior purchase, which serves as undeniable evidence of the validity of my initial request. It is deeply disheartening to have to address such behavior, particularly in a business setting where professionalism and inclusivity should prevail.
In conclusion, while Victor's exemplary customer service initially drew me to El Rey, the discriminatory racist behavior and unprofessional conduct and displayed by the owner on my subsequent visit have rendered me unwilling to patronize this...
Read moreUPDATE: This place USED to be my favorite restaurant in the greater heights. I eat at this restaurant several times a month, usually on the weekend. Lately, the consistency has diminished and I never know what to expect. Sometime their spicy salsa tastes like sweet tomato paste, they over steam the latte that I order, or the completely mess up my order, any many other errors in the quality of my order.
Today, I visited the restaurant, 9.8.2024, nervous about what I will encounter. I waited in the drive thru for a minute before someone spoke. It was the General Manager. I asked for a latte. He rudely informed my that they "only got almond milk." The GM acted like it was my problem when I drove off after telling him to have a nice day.
It's getting to the point that I can no longer rely on El Rey's consistency and reliability its in-store management. In the last year, my experience with El Rey has not lived up to the expectation that I have experienced for over a decade. I am seriously considering finding a new restaurant to call home.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love the black beans here. I order them with every meal.
I love this place. I wish they had a kids menu, but I'm lucky that I have found work arounds a that are affordable. The owners are there every day and show customer appreciation...
