I have lived in Houston for 40 years. I maybe mistaken, perhaps the owner can respond and correct me if I am wrong. There was a George's Pastaria on Richmond and either Hillcroft or Fondren in 1980s. I never went to the place, but always passed by it. As I settled in West Houston, I noticed the same name popping up on Dairy Ashford, and decided to give it a try a few years ago. I was in a rush to eat a quick lunch. I asked if I could sit outside from a waitress. The owner abruptly interrupted our conversation, and stated that there will be no seating on the patio. All of that was okay with me, however, there was a tone in which he spoke that conveyed to me I was not welcomed in his restaurant. He sounded more like an angry manager than a friendly owner. I will not question his motive. The waitress personally apologized to me for the owner's behavior. I ate a meatball sandwich and left a good tip for the waitress.
As I read recent reviews on this restaurant, I see a consistent pattern of behavior by the owner. He seems to be obsessed by some news from KHOU. He has chosen to politicize his restaurant by placing politicians names on his street sign, and keeps discounting negative reviews by connecting them to the KHOU story instead of addressing the reviewers' concerns.
I hope I have been helpful in your decision to go to this place. I think the food is alright, but the owner has some behavioral issues that he seems to dump on...

Read moreNot only is the food delicious, but the above-and-beyond service from the staff is the reason I am writing this review.
I planned to have my daughter’s birthday dinner here, after we enjoyed some time at the roller rink. When I called the restaurant to ask if I would be able to drop off her cake a few hours early, they assured me that I was more than welcome to do so, and they would keep it in their walk-in cooler until we were ready.
Once we arrived for dinner, they asked thoughtful questions to best accommodate our large party while they were at their peak busyness. Staff was attentive and timely checking in throughout our meal (which was fantastic all around) and they helped me fix up candles for the cake and insisted on carrying it over while we sang happy birthday; even volunteering to take photos if I wanted.
They even all wished us happy birthday and waved us goodbye as we left 10 minutes before closing - it truly felt like we were leaving from family dinner. This staff went above and beyond to make my daughter’s birthday a special experience. I haven’t experienced accommodation like this since pre-COVID. Thank you so much George’s Pastaria! We left with full bellies and happy hearts, and we...
