Golden Chick — Restaurant in Houston

I have eaten at a golden chick one time before, and I was majorly impressed! After eating at this location, I was majorly DEPRESSED! It’s obvious that someone really invested a lot of money in trying to make this location look nice. There is a huge area right in the front of the restaurant that was at one time full of water. Now, it’s 3/4 empty with a whole lot of green slime in the water. I ordered three piece chicken strip combo. I was asked if I wanted “spicy“. Absolutely, I love spicy! So when I got my order, I drove down the street and parked somewhere so that I could eat. I was so shocked when I open the box. yes, there were three chicken strips. However, there was a big pile of red spice on top of each of the three chicken strips. It wasn’t even spread out evenly or nowhere close to it! It was literally a pile! And it was only on one side of each chicken strip. The gravy was extremely watery, and the french fries were soaked with grease! I am simply floored! So far from being the wonderful experience that I had previously had at another location. When I pulled out of the drive-through, there was a huge hole in the concrete That my wheel went through. Somebody really needs to step up regarding this location! Absolutely unacceptable! Don’t worry, I will never return to this location, and I recommend that you find another...

Tried again 5-6-25. Got extra rolls because they used to be so good. Not today. So much yeast and thick I can eat them.

Refund invoice says server was Adriyana, well she Wasted 45 mins of my time. 2-2-2025, I had to walk out. Got there about 2:15pm, walked out at 3pm. I eat here about once a week, ive never had an issue with service unit today. Its also my first time not using the drive through. I Walk in, and notice a couple people in front of me. Line moving very slow, I should have left. Had 3 people working the drive through, but only one working dinning room. She is moving very slow, and not acting normal. I keep seeing cars come and go though the drive through. Finally my turn, I get a family pack, spicy, 4 rolls. She then helps a pick up order behind me and finally gets my chicken in the box. She then gets mad at another employee for taking all the rolls. She throws my chicken box up under the heat lamp and goes out side for 10 minutes smoke break. People are waiting around in the dinning room. She comes back on the phone for another 10 minutes. Finally I just had to ask for my money back and walk out hungry. I was tired, hungry, and it was an all around weird...

Ordered online (which is available for this location), told food would be ready at about 9:05 p.m. Rolled up at 9:02, lobby was already locked so has to get in line at the drive thru.

Took 5 minutes to get to the speaker box. Gave name and order, they said ok, just pull up. Cool great.

Waited another 5 minutes to get to the window. Got to the window, gave my name and order again, and they asked me to pull up to an area off to the side and they'd bring my order out.

My order was done fried chicken thighs and tenders (half spicy, half regular), mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and chicken sandwich. But ok. Pulled over.

Waited another 20 minutes!

Finally a worker brought my order out. Worker informs me they didn't have any Mac and cheese, so they gave me mashed potatoes. I said I already had mashed potatoes, and she said "right, but they didn't have Mac and cheese so the gave me mashed potatoes".

My brain melted.

I'd now waited 30 minutes in their parking lot for an order I'd placed in advance, and didn't even get what I'd ordered. No one was being malicious, but that doesn't excuse poor service.

Food was fine, might even say good (hence the two stars), but the whole experience soured me...
