Came here on a Thursday night for a late dinner, always heard good things and wanted to try the place out.
First thin you notice, parking is very limited (or more like it's a very busy place so be prepared to wait for parking). Once we walked in, there were still a few seats available so parking lot just can't handle the people.
Thursday's half price bottles of wine, but didn't partake in any of that. Did try their excellent draft selection, and it was definitely well-priced (about half the tables were drinking only instead of eating and drinking). But we went there for the food!
Service was friendly and relatively efficient, took a while to get our order in but waters were refilled as well as extra sauces when needed. Now on to the food:
Calamari - Fried fairly well, mediocre portion size. The house sauce is a bit more traditional vietnamese (imagine concentrated fish sauce) so you may like the creamy sauce more. Fresh Spring Rolls - Nothing special, but good size and the peanut sauce was yummy. Vermicilli bowl - This was decent, probably not as good as a real vietnamese place but a passable version. Lots of meat, missing a bit of greens, and vermicilli was a bit thicker than normal. But pretty cheap as well. Country fried steak - This was amazing! One of the best country fried steak's with a bacon / sausage gravy that tasted like it was smoked. Mashed potates were great with it, as well as the kale salad (could eat that forever).
Overall, great food, atmosphere, and service at a...
Read moreI came in and paid $3.00 for fresh squeeze lemonade 12 oz cup and ask for no ice employee following policy tells me that he can only then fill it up half way because it's fresh squeeze 🤔 with no ice. So , I said what so because I want no ice you will still charge me $3 for a half cup of lemonade with no ice. But he can fill it up for an extra charge of $ 1 with no ice so I will have to pay $4 for lemonade with no ice. Like really when lemons are in season and this place definitely gets alot alot of business. But my point is why? And get this before I left which I still brought the lemonade lol because it is good. But get this before I left the employee that was telling me this tells me again worry that it is policy and I told them I know your following policy and that I'm not complaining about you just the policy. Then the employee tells me their name which I don't remember right now and starts to tell me that I was giving him attitude and I can go elsewhere but they do appreciate my business. I told him that I was not giving attitude just because I'm questioning the policy and asking questions about the size of cup with other employees. Like really I told him again I'm not complaining about you but the policy. Like really 😒 All I can concluded that he must have been business owner manager getting offended. But really there was offense or attitude. And I understand that I can go elsewhere. But that remark was...
Read moreOk so Hughie’s is Unique! This place has great bar vibes, with an outdoor seating area fully loaded with misting fans and everything! Inside be ready for BEER! Beer decor, tables and booths for seating (Seat yourself) and of course the bar seating. Like I said earlier they have beer out the wazoo, and TV’s always have some sports on. Usually you’re like cool this rocks well outside of the hum from happy patrons you’ve got a variety of music. But wait there’s more lol 🤣 They have Delicious 🤤 Vietnamese Food, Bahn Mi, Vermicelli bowls, spring rolls, Vietnamese egg rolls (usually thinner and crispier)🤤, Fried rice (Shaken Beef is my favorite), and so much more!
They must have a full blown chef back there because they have meals like chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes with gravy, or Wings if you are looking for a more traditional bar food! I don’t think I’m supposed to say, but 👀 they also have Pho 🍜 in the winter months!
I wish I took pictures buuuuut food was too good, I ate it before I thought of it apologies! Let me know if you agree after you check them out!...
