Writing this post to make sure the owner sees this. We had a lady serve us who was unpleasant, did not check our order when it was ready, her partner had to let her know our order was ready since she was not checking. I did not notice at first but when she had white clients coming in, she was serving them first and attending to their needs. Meanwhile we were waiting for 47 minutes for our order and she had not once come check on us, so much so that another of their regular customers noticed and he asked his server to attend us. I have never experienced such racism in my life until today. She did not even get our hash browns that we were waiting on and still had the disgrace of asking us if we wanted them when we were done eating. I want to see action take place here. I want to see that she has been reprimanded and talked to about attending customers the right way no matter what color or ethnicity they may be. The fact that they’re regular had to tell us to never get attended by her but instead look for another young lady working there because he knows how she is was very telling of her behavior. I am appalled that this has not been corrected. We absolutely love the coffee here and the food but to get service like this? Not sure its worth it. If I come back here and she has not corrected her way, I will demand to speak to the owner to correct her right then and there. Just a terrible experience. Not sure the name of the server but she’s about 5’6, brunette, has colored eyes and she was wearing a skirt, was working today March 14th with a younger server, she was amazing and is the only reason this place is getting 2...
Read moreTerrible experience, I was here for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I ate my food and was served well. Apparently, I was sitting “too long” and they asked me to leave because of their wait. I spoke with owner and she was adamant I needed to leave because she had a long line of customers waiting. When I got up she had 4 open tables and only one family waiting which I pointed out to her. I told her I would be writing a review on google, she responded “You can write a review, do whatever you want!” I have been here before and never been treated like this, but because the owner was here and wanted her tables flipped faster she had another server come and ask me to leave. This is also an issue of her regulars wanting the table I was seated. Horrible experience!! Extremely rude owner and as I was walking out she said “I need my tables so I can sell food!” So I got to the bottom, it wasn’t about me or her employee making money. It was about her and her sales!! Will not be returning and won’t encourage anyone else to do so either. There is nothing posted saying you can only sit at a table for an hour either (which would be absurd). Me sitting didn’t affect the server who received a $30 tip from me! Also, had to get server to come take my plates because gnats/fruit flies started swarming my table. So indicative of...
Read moreJust what I had been looking for!
Having lived on the East Coast most of my life, I was inundated with diner options. There is nothing like a greasy-spoon breakfast, meatloaf, or chicken-fried steak with red-eye gravy. When I moved here, I found that I missed diners so much, because I wasn't able to find anything near authentic and affordable.
I happened to arrive early at a friend's birthday party at Karbach, and was hungry so I stopped in at Jackie's without any prior knowledge of it. I ordered a cup of coffee, a fresh-squeezed OJ and the hungry(wo)man breakfast without toast/pancake (which the waitress asked me again if I was sure of the omission). Man! It came out so fast and, boy, were those eggs cooked to a perfect over medium. Plus, the coffee was flowing like delicious, free refill motor oil. (I should have gotten a pancake. My neighbor's looked like it was golden and fluffy and cloud-like.) I had found diner heaven for a mere $8.
Oh, and have you ever been to one of those chain pancake restaurant/diners and you came out smelling like what everyone else ate. Such a pet peeve of mine. Well, this WILL NOT happen at Jackie's! Rest assured, you will come out of the restaurant with a full belly and that same smell of last night's cologne on your person. I promise, you will...
