If I could give this store -100 stars, I would. I was profiled by the M.O.D., Michael, the moment I walked into the store—simply because of how I looked. As soon as I entered, I noticed employees getting on their walkies, and suddenly several of them started casually wandering around me, without ever offering help or asking if I needed anything. When I asked Michael about a discount on a pair of shoes that were visibly bent and deformed, he told me he'd rather send them back to the vendor than offer a discount. I let that slide—even though I work right next door at Michael’s as a cashier and fully understand the challenges with theft in the area. But that doesn’t give anyone the right to judge me or anyone else and be treated rudely. Yes, Michael is Hispanic and I am Black. Am I pulling the race card? No. But I do believe I was treated unfairly because of how I looked, and that matters. Normally, I wouldn’t say anything—but this time, I am. I will be reaching out to corporate regarding this experience.
I went back to Ross to request the corporate phone number. I spoke with Michael, who informed me that if I wanted the number, I would need to get it from the website by doing a survey. I asked him several times for the corporate contact, and also mentioned that as a Manager on Duty (MOD), he should have that information either in the office or readily available.
Michael responded that he was new and didn’t know the number. He gave me the store number and his name instead. Throughout my time shopping, I had advised Michael multiple times that I work next door at Michael’s. The only reason I may have looked disheveled is because I had just completed a 10-hour overnight shift at Amazon and came straight to Michael’s to unload a truck. I wanted to clarify this so there is context for my appearance during the interaction. I felt the situation could have been handled more professionally, and I would still like the correct contact information for Ross corporate. Thank you...
Read morePretty new store. Went to look for shorts . The whole rack was messy hangars didn't match the size and were in no specific order so had to search for some time just to find the right size . Go to the checkout and present cash. I am immediately and rudely told you need exact change I dont have any. I was already disappointed with the complete lack of any care in the organization of the rack then the rude clerk and I say whatever just keep the change . She opens the drawer and sure enough fully stocked with change . I laugh and try to just walk away at this point as she tries to blame it on someone else "they told me I didn't have any" seriously !!!! It is obvious by the state of this store it is poorly managed with an extra bonus of lousy...
Read moreYour job is to welcome paying customers, not chase them out.
I stopped by this store after work to look at shoes, since they usually carry my size and have good quality at a fair price. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. I was followed around the store because I was carrying my work bag, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Other shoppers also had bags but were left alone, so it was clear I was being singled out. I also work in retail management and understand how serious theft concerns are, but profiling customers is not acceptable. It’s offensive, demeaning, and creates an environment where people can’t shop in peace. Because of this, I won’t be returning to...
