JB's Chinese Cafe — Restaurant in Houston

I had food delivered from this place... DISGUSTING SLOP NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION! Where do I start? We ordered four items and three of them were inedible, the fourth was improperly prepared. The noodle dish was saturated in curry yet very dry, pasty and stuck together in a huge clump with the shrimp tasting rancid, mushy and very overcooked-- inedible health hazard. The Kung Pao beef and the Kung Pao chicken were equal in that both were totally awful, the sauce was red, gelatinous and had way too much batter, the consistency of the dish was very pasty, tasting like straight corn syrup, impossible to force a bite of this slop down your throat. The beef was dangerously salty, burnt and cold. When I called and explained the poor state of the food, they very reluctantly agreed to make us something else. When it was delivered, the lady argued with me and said I was wrong, the food is good. She stated that the food has been the same for 10 years and no one has ever complained before. I placed an order for 3 family meals for delivery. When the food arrived HALF of the food was missing. The delivery guy told me he would have the next guy bring it out maybe take 15 min. 45 min later I called and asked where my food was. I was told by THE MANAGER that my food would be there in 5 min. I asked why it wasnt immediatly sent out and he told me that it goes in order and I didnt order the Family Meal. I said I was charged that and he said oh well. I then called back 10 min later and was told the delivery guy knocked and no one was there. I told him that was a lie and then he said "OK I TOLD THE GUY NOT TO GO SINCE YOU MAD" --what!??! I then asked for a refund and he said no, I said I didnt get all my food. He said to get a refund I would have to give back my food. I said I ate it. I said I want a refund he said no and this was the manager. I said fine I paid with my credit card and will call and cancel the payment. He told me he would call the police--LMAO--I told please do!!! and would they be there in 5 min? lol He was rude and did not care that he messed up. This is a casual little family owned Chinese cafe that has been here for forever. The food is fresh, made to order, and tastes like real cooking and not the reheated frozen stuff so many other places serve.

I really enjoy their hot and sour soup and beef lo mein, and I tried the chicken pad thai for the first time today and it was delicious. The pan fried dumplings were so good. They were lightly crisped, not greasy, and had a fresh homemade taste and texture. I also love their cheese puffs. My husband always gets the egg drop soup and swears their hot mustard is the best. It clears his sinuses and has him nearly in tears every time, and I love watching his face turn bright red.

Portion sizes are generous and the prices are great. The service is always super friendly and welcoming. Everything we have had has tasted fresh and made from scratch. The mix of price, quality, and portion is hard to beat, especially with everyone watching their budgets. It has become one of our...
