**La Hacienda Escondida** truly lives up to its name - this neighborhood treasure is tucked away like a secret waiting to be discovered, and what a delightful surprise it is! Walking in, I was immediately enchanted by the vibrant Mexican décor. The colorful papel picado dancing overhead, the striking Catrina greeting you at the entrance, and walls adorned with authentic touches create an atmosphere that feels both festive and welcoming. It's like stepping into a little piece of México right here in Houston. The service was exceptional - our waiter was attentive without being intrusive, checking in just the right amount to make sure everything was perfect. You can tell they genuinely care about your experience. I ordered the beef fajitas, and while the beef was slightly on the tougher side, the flavors were solid and the portions were just right. Nothing fancy, but satisfying comfort food that hits the spot. What really impressed me was the price point - in a city where fajitas can cost you an arm and a leg, La Hacienda Escondida keeps things refreshingly affordable. This place embodies that beautiful concept of finding joy in simplicity - good food, warm service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu. **Highly recommended** for anyone looking for authentic texmex vibes without the tourist trap prices. Sometimes the best experiences are hiding in plain sight! 🌮✨

🌮🍹 Review for Hacienda Mexican Restaurant! 🌶️🎉 Let's start with the positives! The food options were reasonably priced, perfect for a neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to grab a bite with friends or family. Now, onto a couple of suggestions for improvement. Hostess, please be friendlier at the entrance and offer options for seating with a smile. A warm welcome sets the tone for the entire dining experience! As a loyal customer, I've been hoping to enjoy my favorite watermelon margarita with pucker, but unfortunately, despite multiple requests, it hasn't been available. Today, I asked my waiter for it again, but unfortunately, I received the syrup-based mixer instead. Please, next time, have the pucker available! It takes the watermelon margarita to another level and would make my dining experience even more enjoyable. I'd love to keep coming regularly since the restaurant is conveniently located near my house. 📸 (Attached a picture of the pucker mixer) Overall, Hacienda Mexican Restaurant has the potential to be a top-notch spot with a few tweaks here and there. Looking forward to my next visit! 🌮🍹🎉

Houston is filled with a huge array of Mexican restaurants most of them pretty good. Each has its distinctive salsa or tortillas. Some serve lots of fish dishes; some none at all. Some multi-page menus; some excel at a few dishes. From this ocean of choices, our favorite is La Hacienda. It is just a bit off the beaten track, the only restaurant on West 26th Street. It is authentic Mexican food at a very reasonable price. The interior is really special, it is almost like being in a cafe in Mexico with soaring ceilings, bright colors and clattering dishes. The service is special, too, with Adan, Jordan and Gilberto, they always make us feel welcome and remember what we usually order. I love the Chicken tortilla soup with loads of shredded chicken and squash. It always tastes fresh and is a generous portion. My husband typically gets the Caldo de Res which is loaded with beef and fresh vegetables. They even serve me a side of carrots which is not on the menu. My usually non-drinking husband always leaves happy, for he can't resist the really unique frozen jalapeño margaritas--no salt, with cherries. They are delicious and pack a Tequila punch!

Loved the restaurant itself, food was good, drinks were good.

The reason I rate this place with a one is because we had a party of 20. I called ahead and asked for a reservation. They do not take reservations. We were OK with that. The person I spoke to never informed me they do not separate checks for large parties. We arrive and after being seated we were told they would not split the check, but we could split the check up between 10 cards and or pay with cash. We were even OK with that; even though we had to figure out what each person owed. Our total bill was 399.00 and change. We gave the waiter 411.00 split between 5 credit cards and some cash. Each card had a sticky on it letting the waiter know how much to charge to each card. This was recommended by the manager. After taking the cash and credit cards the waiter come back and claims we are 30.00 short. We of course were not because we counted everything three times. After arguing with the guy and telling him we handed him 410.00 dollars and him still saying we were short we just went ahead and paid the additional 30.00 dollars, because we were all tired of dealing with it. I even accused him of pocketing some of the money, he just laughed at me. (He new damn well what he had done) We knew we were not going to win that argument. Anyway after he brings our credit card slips for us to sign we realize he charged us an additional tip of 30.00 on top for the 65.00 tip they added to the bill, which was actually 75.00 because we had given the waiter an additional 10.00 dollars, not because he deserved it but that's just what we ended up with and no one wanted to figure out who the change went back to. When we pointed this out to him he states oh I thought you said add a 30.00 tip. Which was stupid because he added it to a 40.00 bill. This is why we were short 30.00 dollars, because he added an additional tip. So not only did we give him a 75.00 tip he kept the 30.00 dollars we paid because he claimed we were short. So this guy ended up with 105.00 tip which he totally did not deserve. At this point all the cash had been put in the draw and the cards were charged so we couldn't go back and prove how much cash we had actually handed him, to try and get our 30.00 back. I'm sure there was a way to get our 30.00 back but at this point we were all so fustrated and ready to leave. I was so mad I need to leave cause I wasn't about to go to jail over this fool....

I wish I knew the name of our street bus boy because he worked harder than the waiter. If I could've I would have handed him the entire tip....

Anyway, lesson learn....

We will not be...

Update: A year ago this place was great and that's why I had left my previous review, but I have to update my review due to recently bad customer service. I called to see if they offered curbside since we were wanting good Mexican food and due to being a high risk household we are forced to do a lot of curbside ordering because of this pandemic. I was very disappointed at how rude the guy that took my call was towards my question. I simply said Hi do you offer curbside and he said yes you can pick up. So I said does that mean I have to go inside or do you bring it to the car. Mind you I was only asking so if they didn't offer curbside it would have been fine with us, BUT he had this rude tone and said well can you at least park in front of the door sounding very frustrated. At that moment after I heard his rude tone I said its ok thank you anyways. Maybe he was having a bad day, but that is still not a reason to answer the customers questions in a rude manner. Come on La Hacienda you can do better especially in these times. I understand that some people are ok with going into a restaurant, but NOT everyone can go inside a restaurant and feel safe when they are already high risk. You should take in to consideration all your customers needs. I understand curbside takes a little extra effort to carry and walk outside, but some customers would really be grateful for it. That day we still got to eat Mexican food from Little Mexico. And YES, Little Mexico offers curbside and did it with a great attitude. Let me make it clear this update has nothing to do with the food La Hacienda offers. They do have great food and great prices, but during these times they should have more consideration towards their customers.

2019 5🌟Very good food, great atmosphere, but the best is "the great prices!" Definately recommend! Its a great delicious hidden...

This place doesn't even deserve a star. I went on February 23.2016 for a friends birthday. The service was completely horrible. When it came to paying, a friends card declined so I told the waiter just to put it on my card, be mindful they had already swiped my card for $48 and some change, the wait went ahead and charged me another $68 and some change which would've been the complete tab. I always check my account balance when I swipe my card anywhere. The restaurant charged my debit card $116, meaning they charged me twice. I didn't realize this until I made it home. I call the restaurant and ask to speak to a manager, a woman answered the phone and said she was the manager, I calmly explain to her the situation and she flips out on me, starts yelling at me telling me "do you know anything about running a business,? Do you own a business?" Which I thought was completely and utterly rude. He managers name, so she says, is Amanda. I explained to her that I wasn't calling for her to tell me about running a business I called because my card was charged twice and my money was taken out. This manager continued to yell at me over the phone. I told her I was going to file a complaint with corporate and she responded with "I am corporate, this is my business, your complaint won't matter" so I told her I would file a complaint with the bank that charged my card and again she responded with "you can't do that". Clearly this woman has no knowledge of customer service. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Houston. I think anyone who has had a problem with this restaurant should also file a complaint with the BBB. I'm Police officer and even I don't speak to people with...
