Lotus Indian Restaurant on Westheimer is truly a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Maharashtrian flavors right here in Houston. From the moment you step in, the warm ambiance and welcoming hospitality make you feel at home. The menu celebrates the bold and comforting tastes of Maharashtra, offering dishes that are both traditional and full of heart.
We ordered the Kolhapuri Danka, which came with both Tambda Rassa and Pandhra Rassa, along with perfectly cooked mutton and soft jowar bhakri. Each bite was rich in flavor and beautifully balanced — the kind of taste that instantly takes you back to homemade meals in Maharashtra. The spices were authentic and aromatic, and you could tell that everything was made fresh with care. We also tried the Gavran Chicken, which was absolutely outstanding — tender, flavorful, and bursting with traditional masalas that define real Maharashtrian cooking.
What stood out even more was the hospitality. Our server, Ketki, was a wonderful host — attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had the best experience. She guided us through the menu and made sure everything arrived perfectly.
Lotus Indian Restaurant is not just another Indian eatery; it’s a place where food is crafted with love and authenticity. It reminded us of flavors you can only compare to mom’s cooking — comforting, soulful, and unforgettable. I would highly recommend everyone to visit this restaurant and experience real Maharashtrian cuisine. From the food to the service, everything was spot-on.
I am definitely coming back to try more dishes and enjoy this incredible culinary experience again. A true taste of...
Read moreLoved the food here. It reminds you of the taste back home. We had the kothimbir vadi which was crispy on the outside and well cooked on the inside, Pitla bhakri with maharashtrian thecha, and puranpoli with katachi aamti. The owner of the restaurant Shubham was friendly and kind to check on us.
Second visit review. Came back the second time. But I am reducing a few stars for the service. The girls who serve keep staring at you for no reason while you are eating, making you uncomfortable. But I chose not to react to it because I cared less as i was busy enjoying my food. And when you actually are calling out to them for the bill or anything else, they act like they didn’t see you. They look disinterested after the food is served. After I finished eating, when I got up from the table to ask one of the girls for the bill, instead of saying ‘ok we will bring it to you’ or anything else she could have said, she pointed her fingers at me and said to the other girl ‘ae isko bill de’ before walking away as if she’s not interested, which was very cheap in my opinion. The other girl was like ‘you want the bill?’ I said ‘yes and I’ll need…’ and although she saw me talking to her she started walking away, which was weird and then when I raised my voice to say ‘I’ll need..’ she then stopped and looked back and I said ‘I’ll need a to go box’. Why are the servers acting so weird and pricey? Shubham needs to check on it coz frankly though the food is good, the bad experience is making me rethink about whether to return as a...
Read moreGiving this 5-stars based on food and service. Atmosphere, while clean, had a distinctly down market feel. The restaurant is located in a strip center just west of the intersection of Westheimer and Westpark Drive, in the Briar Forest area west of BW 8. We were welcomed and seated promptly. This being our first foray into Maharashtrian cuisine (although having eaten the odd dish previously), we took our time ordering - Kokum Juice (tangy, slightly sweet, with Chaat masala, etc.), Kothimbir Vadi (Cilantro plus other spices mixed in dough, fritters) and Sabudana Vada (Sago fritters) for appetizers; Maratha Vegetables, Bombay Masala Noodles, dry Cauliflower Manchurian, and Pithala/Bhakri combo (a Gram Flour-based gravy/curry with Millet flat bread). Food arrived after a while as it appeared to have been made afresh. Tastes were fantastic, and quantities were ample. A great first holistic intro to Maharashtrian cuisine. Prices were reasonable, with the whole meal setting us back approx $70 for 5 persons, with taxes All in all, an excellent outing -...
