Read moreStopped in for lunch for the first time and it was good. I had the Chinese chicken salad which was served in a good sized bowl (nothing worse than a bowl to small to mix your dressing to get your salad well coated). The interior was modern with cows decorated all over to remind you of the farm to market appeal. They had a small section for family eating that had a table just for the little ones next to the adults table. Accompanied by a huge chalk wall for entertaining them. Small tables lined the dining area with bar style seating in the middle.
Everything about this place reminded you that you were making a fresh choice and quickly had me feeling good about my decision. The best part of the experience was the casually dressed business man in front of us that gave us all the great menu and ordering tips. Told us how to turn a sandwich to a salad (his favorite was the one with the potbelly pork). Ask for it skinny, he says cause the dressing are so good he can't afford the calories. I got mine both skinny with dressing on the side so I could add if needed.
He also gave the tip to always leave an interesting name for your order. Jiminne Cricket he tells the waiter and pays for his food. He said it's a crowd pleaser in restuarant that call your name out loud. And he says ALWAYS go for the free tortilla they ask you if you want. Great advice because the food was awesome. The chicken on the salad was so tender. We also got the salad with the quinoa and the house crunch mix. Delicious and beautiful. It looked so good that another business man sitting next to us had to ask which one it was.
Needless to say we will be back!!! Another piece of California in Houston to...
Read moreWe are avid customers and often come here whenever we want a good sandwich or salad. However today when we came in around 8 me and mother ordered our usual orders with an addition of a fountain drink ( the seasonal lemonades they often have). After acquiring the drink from the cashier we saw that the lemonades were not available and they did not have the pour spouts only the basic lemonade and tea were available. After noting this we saw that one of the workers was emptying the containers we then asked her very nicely if she could give us some of the passionfruit lemonade after finishing that because of how good it tasted we obviously wanted more. We went to ask the worker if we can have more then with a very moody attitude she then went to get a paddle and scoop the lemonade out of the container and gave is 3/4 of a cup. We talked to the manager about getting one last cup and she asked the same worker if she could have a cup and after she was asked this she was visibly angry and then when she delivered us the cup of lemonade she didn’t even acknowledge us when she put it down she put it on the table near us instead of after our table. Now I’m normally not one to complain about things like this but if your workers are getting that much into a tiff about things such as us getting a drink that we paid for, then maybe leave it out until you fully close the restaurant or don’t let customers buy them after a...
