💯 The best Chinese food in Houston 😊😋🥰 I am so grateful a friend of mine, Vic, who is a chef as well as an owner of two restaurants located in Houston (Empire State Jazz Cafe & Nyamming’s) put me on to Nihao Chinese Restaurant. My food was absolutely fabulous 😋 I ordered the Shrimp and Broccoli with fried rice and a side of their veggie egg rolls. The veggie egg rolls were cooked perfectly, light & crispy flakes stuffed with mouth watering flavorful juicy veggies ☺️🥰. The shrimp were plump and juicy, extremely large shrimp cooked to perfection along with the fresh slightly crisp and juicy broccoli 🥦 I love it love it 💙! Nihao is my new most favorite Chinese restaurant.

Unfortunately, I had to change my ratings from a 5 ⭐️ to a 2 ⭐️ and it wasn’t easy for me! I’ve been eating at this restaurant since last summer after a friend put me on! For the most part Nihao stayed consistent with regard of the flavors, quality, and service (I would order from them every week sometimes twice a week). However, I hv thoroughly learned a new meaning to the phrase “what a difference a day makes” and when ordering from Nihao, it is best Not to order from them on Saturday. I hv tested this multiple times and was left unsatisfied every time. I hv never received my food fresh, the way I requested it, or the order in its entirety (missing my sauces).
I always order the same thing… Shrimp and Broccoli, fried fish, vegetable egg rolls, and the crunchy noodles. If it’s a weekday my food is most likely going to be fresh, flavorful and satisfying! Where’s on a Saturday, it’s the opposite. My food is never fresh, the rice is mushy and tastes old, the crunch noodles are stale and taste oily, and my egg rolls are never fresh; they have a weird taste and are soggy (almost as if they were freezer burnt, defrosted & then fried & left sitting out). The sweet and sour sauce if specially asked for to go with my egg rolls and crunchy noodles are always forgotten on Saturdays. And it was a first but today when I opened my stapled paper bag it had a very alive baby spider running around on the styrofoam container.. I’m Very disappointed… I choose Nihao today for my birthday dinner and I was left very disappointed 😔 (total opposite of my earlier experiences). I am not sure if I will be ordering from them in the future. Maybe it would be beneficial to not just close on Sundays but rather Saturdays too, so that customers won’t hv a...
Read moreThis restaurant is so bad that if i could do -5 starts i would do it. Let start saying we went today to have dinner with my family. The food was so horrible! No taste whatsoever and an so old and dry. We couldn't take it. We feel bad returning everything, so we agreed on returning only the sesame chicken and pay for the appetizers, the soups and the other entres, so we told the lady to take the chicken out of the ticket. She said the manager said the food was fine so we would have to pay for it regardless if we actually eat or not.. i refused and told her to take the chicken off the ticket. They keep saying i had to pay everything. At rhis point i told her either they take it out or i would not pay because i only had credit card. When i was exiting the restaurant with my mom and mother in law, 2 eldery persons, the guy came from the kitchen and the delivery guy came out of somewhere and start harassing us violently. They tried to take us inside the restaurant violently and i called 911. At that point the guy was trying to take the phone out of my hands violently. To make story short, police had to come and resolve the issue. I paid everything but the chicken as i requested. Avoid this place at all costs. If u go, do it at ur own risk. Don't say u...
Read morethis place was quite good !
we ordered the pork egg rolls, fried crab puffs and the dumplings for our appetizers. they were all cooked beautifully and we even received an extra order of egg rolls, which was generous.
for entree’s, we ordered the orange chicken, general tso’s chicken, kung pao chicken (can you see a pattern lol) and the veggie fried rice. all of the chicken dishes were very flavorful and crispy, which i adored. many places don’t make their chicken crispy enough but this restaurant did the job and did it beautifully. the only gripe i heard from the family was that the vegetable fried rice was a bit bland, but that can easily be amended with the various provided sauces.
lastly, we ordered a side of dan dan noodles. these noodles were perfectly cooked and just spicy enough to have a pleasant kick, but not so spicy that it overwhelms the flavor just for the sake of being spicy. much respect for that touch.
overall, this was a lovely experience and we look forward to ordering...
