Wowzers!! OMG!! What a total transformation in the most amazing way after new ownership and a classic-styled clean remodeling of the entire space!! Immediately upon noticing…the staff is actually happy, smiling, and friendly!! Service is efficient. The usual hostess up front (Jessica) is hard-working, hustles quickly to help out the staff, and is very kind and sweet to all of the patrons.
The food is now better than it has ever been!! From the taste to the presentation… it’s all A+. When you’re there… you really get the feeling that you’re sitting in a New York restaurant. Some of the rockstar waitresses I’ve had thus far have been Erica, Lorie, and Sada (I hope I spelled that correctly). I don’t know all of the staff yet- but likely will by the end of the year since I have now been coming every week!!
The ladies in the bakery are super sweet also. I like that there are at least 2 employees with 2 registers in the bakery part because they can move the traffic more efficiently and help people faster. I noticed that on my way out, they always without fail, wave goodbye and say “Thank you and see you next time!” (I love the friendliness and appreciation; it’s great business practices).
Also, on the restaurant side…even the bus boys are on the ball and do a really good job in bringing out drinks immediately without having to wait as well as assisting the wait staff. These guys are hard-working, polite, and quick to help!!
Another cool thing is that every condiment you can think of is already in an organized caddy on every table. This is sooooo smart because you never have to ask for anything and frees up time for the servers to actually serve the guests. I’m impressed on how well this restaurant is now being operated. I don’t know who the new owners are yet, but I’m guessing this isn’t their first rodeo because this is no amateur work.
I wrote this long review because when an establishment does a really good job; they should be recognized and commended for their efforts. Someone put a lot of thought, time, and money into this place to make it work like this. It totally shows and it won’t be long before this restaurant becomes legendary. I could totally see Guy Fieri with Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives from the Food Network come here and do a show!!!
One thing I didn’t see however… was some Bagel Shop SWAG!! I think if y’all had some swag to sell, people would buy it!! (Maybe this will change and we can rep HTown with some gear!
CHEERS to the new owners and entire staff for making this establishment an A+!!! Great work y’all and keep it up; your efforts are well noticed!
Update (4/1/25): This past weekend… I met Rhianna (One of the two owners) and she was super nice!! She had a great outgoing and friendly personality. I watched as she went up to tables to greet them with a huge smile and was also helping to run food and drinks out to tables. Total team-player and that’s awesome to see that!! (I have still not yet the other owner, but hope to in the...
Read moreHighly disappointed.. To say the least.. (Sorry about the spit out food on the tray in the photo) My order was the lox on a sun dried tomato bagel, through doordash. The reviews for this place are great so i was pretty excited to check them out. Also how can you mess up a simple salmon lox sandwich lol. I've learned today you can and it could go horribly wrong. My first bite I didn't add any condiments (cream cheese, tomatoe, lettuce etc.) I just wanted to enjoy the bagel and "Delicious" salmon lox. After my first two chews The first thing that hits me is this rancid unnatural fishy taste then a ridiculous over load of salt, so my mouth is just fillled with a combination of disgusting rancid fish and a sh*t load of salt. The bagel was pretty much non existent at this point I couldn't even taste the bagel. At first glance it was great all the vegetables looked fresh and crisp NO weird odor coming from any thing and there was plenty of salmon! I get lox in multiple different states and cities and I've never experienced anything so foul. I called them just to let them know SOMETHING WAS WRONG! I was Pleasant of course, explaining to him that I didn't want anything in return but there was a major issue with my order. First he kept trying to explain to me what lox is. Which I'm already pretty darn familiar with the process. He eventually stop cutting me off and listened and ended the conversation with "Okay, Thank you. Sorry". ?????? I would just shy away from this place altogether. If you look at my reviews I try not to leave places a one star review because I get it.. You're trying to run a business and Things may happen sometimes but this was truly inexcusable. (And of course doordash refunded me...
Read moreSince being in Houston, I am still on a mission to find a good corned beef sandwich. So far, New York Deli is my second try at trying to find a good corned beef sandwich. When I got home, started eating, my first impression was not a good impression. First, let me start off saying that when I noticed that the restaurant close at 4pm, and it was a little after 3pm, I was a little apprehensive. I really don't like going to a restaurant close to closing, feeling that the food, for some reason, may not be as fresh as if I had gone earlier in the day. But since I was out already, and not that far away, I decided to go anyway. I should have listened to my first intuition. The corned beef was super dry! Just looking at parts of the meet, it had that dried-out look, like meat looks when it has been in the fridge uncovered. So, I said to myself, at least the meat is not tough. I decided to finish eating it, knowing that I would never return (my motto: if food is not good the first time, I will not give restaurant a second chance). But then, when I got down to the last 2-3 bites, I noticed the bread had MOLD on it! I was super mad! Now I am wondering if I unknowingly had eaten any mold! The mold, although a small amount, was on both slices of the bread...Ugh!!! Bread does not mold that fast, so this tells me that they had this bread for awhile, and did not care about serving old food to their customers. For this reason, I will definitely not return; and I will tell everyone else, to check your food before you eat it. If I lived closer to this restaurant, I would have returned to show the mold, and requested some of my money back! $11 for old, moldy, dried up food! Shame on you...
