Ostioneria Michoacan — Restaurant in Houston

Here’s your honest review:

This restaurant overall was an alright experience. They play loud music which gives a great fun dining experience. Sometimes the music is TOO loud to where you can’t have a normal conversation. They have outside seating available if you do not enjoy the music. The music is also spanish DUH! The Waitress(s) are friendly. But they are also insanely LAZY. They don’t come around to serve you. They ignore you when you flag them down, so that really irritated me. What made it worse was that they automatically rip themselves 10% out of the paycheck. I make my own tip based on my experience. I understand that tipping is a very important part of a servers job but you have to earn it. The service I received should’ve been tipped a couple bucks because that’s what the deserved. They’re friendly like I said but they don’t do their jobs correctly. The food was good. I had fish and rice. Although I enjoyed my food, I would’ve preferred going back to MAMBOS. A lot cheaper, tasty, and friendlier service. I will not be going...

Food is decent enough. Actually I enjoyed it. I got a blackened tilapia which was good and the fried rice was amazing. Now here's what I didn't like, when I was given my receipt I noticed what I ordered was overpriced. So I checked the menu and asked the waitress why my food was charged different than what was on the menu. She told me that was the old menu! Also noticed that soft drinks were $4 but on the menu they're $2.50. Again old menu prices. Fine if you want to change your prices but update the menus for crying out loud. So I payed with my credit card and when I was given my receipt then it mentions that a 15% tip is included on all transactions. This all is very deceptive as nothing about that is mentioned until AFTER you pay with your credit card. Luckily I left a tip with cash which in all totaled well over 20% in tips. I won't be returning. I hate when restaurants are dishonest about everything from their "old menu prices" to gratuity being included which they never mention. That left a bad taste...

We were at this Michoacana on Wirt Rd. yesterday, Friday night. The place was totally empty at 7:30 Pm. First question they asked was if we were paying cash or card. Not sure why it mattered. The food was okay. By the time they brought us the bill, the waitress was in a rush to take my payment. The bill did not have any details on it except for the numbers. I asked the waitress if the tip was already included and she told me no. I checked the paper she gave me and I asked to tell me what some items on the bill were as the prices were different from the menu. She went through it with me and exactly as I thought, they had over charged me for several items AND the tip was also charged on the bill, after she had told me that it wasn’t. No wonder this place was empty, they steal from you. I will not return to the Michoacána on Wirt Rd. Like I told the lady, I don’t mind paying for the food I consume but it does bother me when they try taking...
