Though this place has been open for quite some time, I can't believe I didn't even know this place existed until an out of town friend commented on how this was one of her favorite places since moving to Houston. She's here for law school and said to me "when I move back home, I'm gonna miss this place more than anything".

That was a huge shock to hear because Houston is known for their food scene. But for her to say that, was a huge deal.

We came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Literally right at noon and this place was POPPIN!!! Huge line and tables filled. That's how you know.

There's only 12 menu items. I repeat 12!

I can't believe I'm saying this but the rumors are true. Their jjajangmyeon is DELICIOUS. Noodles are chewy to perfection and the black bean sauce was flavorful.

We also got their soy garlic chicken wings. They're not greasy at all. It's light and crispy. One of my favorites.

Their fried pork Tangsuyuk was SO GOOD. It's basically made out of potato starch and club soda which gives it that crispy-airy-crunchy goodness. It doesn't give you that greasy heavy guy feeling.

My friend loved the seafood jjamppongbap. She couldn't stop talking during our meal about how much she loved it.

I ended up getting a meal to go since I was hooked. I ordered jaengban-jjajang (spicy seafood noodles with black bean sauce). Shared it with a different friend for dinner and it was DELICIOUS.

The workers here are fast! You can see them through the window shaking up those massive woks and searing and mixing up sauce. It makes sense to only have 12 items on the menu. It helps streamline orders since this place is freaking popular.

You self serve yourself on water and free pickled radish.

Also this place is SO AFFORDABLE with leftovers for...

First time in over 2 years, revisited since family moved away from Houston. Quality of food has gone down big time. Ordered the Jjamppong (spicy noodle soup). Noodle is over cooked, flavor of the soup is no where to be found, completely disappointed food experience. The Paik's chain pride themselves on consistent quality of food no matter the location you visit (think of McDonalds), but still depending on the kitchen staff's effort to make the best quality food possible. This place installed a self ordering kiosk when you are paying with credit card, but the staff behind the counter was not friendly at all. Looking at his phone, points his finger at the self ordering kiosk if you are paying by credit card...then goes back to looking at his phone. Yes, place wasn't that busy (2PM in the Friday afternoon), but I absolutely hate to see someone working at a rest more focused on the phone than assisting customers. Overall experience at this place has gone down big time. Next time I visit Houston, I will give this place another try to determine if it was just one time disappointment or not. Time will tell. For this review, this is my honest opinion of this place (compared to...

This location has plenty of parking and seating inside so even if you have a big party, it’s not too bad. You go up to a kiosk to order and grab it from the counter once your number is called. My friends and I ordered the regular jajangmyon, meat jajangmyon, and sweet and sour pork. We got the sweet and sour pork first and wow, I am hooked. The texture of the fried pork is incredible. It has that perfect crisp outside and juicy/tender meat inside. And even when you pour the sauce over the meat, it still retains the crispiness pretty well. I’m personally not crazy for the sweet and sour sauce but just the texture of the fried pork itself was so addicting. As for the jajangmyeon, as I stated earlier, we got both the original and the meat. I ordered the meat since I just wanted more protein and it was good but it’s just the original with more meat on top lol. The meat itself was good though so no complaints. The jjangmyeun was fantastic though! The noodles are cooked perfectly where it’s bouncy/chewy and the black bean sauce was sweet and savory. Overall, I’m happy that I finally got to try Paik’s noodle and this restaurant positively contributes to the Korean Food...

Paik’s Noodle is a chain that specializes in its seafood noodle soup, jjampong, and black bean noodles, jajangmyeon. The restaurant is located next to the other local Korean restaurants and has a smaller menu. The seating is a bit small, and during the weekends, it can get packed and have limited seating. There is a self-serve station in corner for water, utensils, and yellow pickled radish. I ordered the jjampong, jajang bap, jajangmyeon, and 4 piece fried dumplings. All of my Korean friends rave about their jjampong, and I think it is definitely worth your money. You get a huge serving with tons of noodles and seafood, especially mussels, but my favorite is the jajangmyeon. It’s one of the better ones I’ve had in Houston. It comes with plenty of sauce and coats the noodles well. The jajang bap is black bean sauce with rice and a fried egg on top. It also comes with a side of jjampong soup. The dumplings are also super delicious and perfectly seasoned. It’s good even without sauce. Overall, I think Paik’s noodle is a great place to get Korean comfort food on a budget!
