Ranchero King Buffet — Restaurant in Houston

This is the first time I've been to this buffet and I was generally impressed, better than Panchos that's for sure. The food served here, (the least I know) is pretty authentic Mexican cuisine. I went with some family members early evening of a Saturday, not too crowded, plenty of seating. I spent about $100 for 3 adults and two children (pricy, but that day was a special occasion) The food was good, although I was coming in on an empty stomach so everything tasted pretty delicious. I mostly got pupusas, rice, tamales (very filling), the wings there (yes, buffalo wings) were tasty, your standard hot wings. I also got a couple of enchiladas (green and red salsa variety) which were great, but I managed to get a few since there was no more on the serving tray. I got full pretty quickly (I was good for the rest of the evening), I didn't focus too much on dessert, but they have the basics; fruit, cookies, ice cream, etc. For drinks they have standard fountain drinks, they also have Mexican drinks like Limon, Pina, Jamaica, and Horchata (served in their respective clear jugs) I don't think they serve alcohol here. This buffet is located just before Gallery Furniture, so if you live near Almeda Mall (like I do) then it's a little drive especially with traffic and the unending construction going on.

Huge buffet, great delicious food. A lot of food to choose from. Menudo, Mole, Aguachile, You’d think you were at a party. This is our first time here. The experience of the food options is something I was not expecting. It exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this place. If you haven’t gone already. This is a must go to place. The experience with the waitress tho, is unacceptable. A blonde hair lady and a younger waitress were unbelievably disrespectful. They made it a point that I saw them being flirtatious with my husband . When I got up to go get food, they would make it a point to get the dishes then. My husband being the only one sitting their. Then he got up to go to the bathroom the blonde one gets up and follows behind him to get in front of him to go to the bathroom at the same time. He gets up to get food. I as well, he goes one way, I go another, then the blonde one goes towards my husband where he’s getting food. Not realizing he’s coming towards me, I see her, and she comes to a complete stop and makes an immediate u turn. I ask her you don’t have to make a uturn. But you are being disrespectful. And I’ve seen you. She turned red and I never saw her again. The other one has the hair to tell him thanks for coming, my husband ignored her and rolled his eyes at her, he stopped to grab my hand and he looks up at her, and I responded with a huge smile and said thank you! Wow! Hungry for married men. Sad but true. Five stars...

Oh where do I begin, from the moment I walked in I noticed it was hot. The front lady at the register was literally on her phone upon us arriving. Never got greeted! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY. Then After paying for the buffet went in to go find a table and it felt very disrespectful. I don’t know if their AC was down, but it was very hot. It sucked especially because we’re in summer and who wants to eat with no AC. A big issue also was the cleanliness. While sitting down I saw about 2 roaches on the wall. The guests that sat behind near us also saw them as I heard them talking about it…..Then the food. I laughed when I saw the super tiny gorditas and pupusas. They were flavorless by the way. Food was just bland and some of it tasted like it had been refrigerated.I once worked at a buffet before so I know the difference when it comes to freshly made food. There’s a good variety of mexican food yes, but it’s just not good. Maybe consider training kitchen staff how to properly prepare mexican dishes so they can taste more authentic. The desserts like the flan wasn’t made well either, and the arroz con leche, the rice was hard, like it wasn’t boiled well. The server came by just ONCE and no more. I didn’t enjoy a good meal, it was hot and humid in there, and then roaches! The place needs to make...
