I was in the neighborhood for the annual Dia de los Muertos festival at Hidalgo Park. I was craving some Mexican food. There's a lot of food trucks in the area but wanted a place where we can sit with the kids. Taqueria el Sol was less than 5 minutes from the park. Not much parking so it can be hard to find a spot. At first I was skeptical about this place because their menu has like over 100 dishes. I ordered a torta de fajita and 3 tacos( al pastor, fajita and barbacoa). When the dishes came out , all of the meat was steaming hot and food was fresh. The seasoning on all the meats were on point. I enjoyed every bit. We also ordered a plate that included 2 enchiladas de fajita, an amazing crispy bistec (thin beef steak). The bistec was the highlight. I had that crispy sear but still soft inside. This is very hard to accomplish. The enchiladas were also delicious. They had a cheese sauce but it wasn't too pungent. The meats were a little greasy but nothing that took away from the taste. Even the rice was good. I also have to compliment the waitresses, who were excellent and always made sure we had everything we needed. Great experience at Taqueria el Sol de Mexico. FYI portions are big including the tacos so...

The food is pretty good, there are some nice waitresses working there. They have specials everyday from their menu which contains many options. The parking lot is pretty small, so finding a parking space during lunch time or dinner might prove to be difficult. I come here a couple of times for lunch since I work close by, I dine in with a co-worker and we're usually in and out in less than 30 minutes. It's probably best if you call ahead to place your order if you plan on eating here during your lunch break, otherwise you run the chance of waiting a long time before your food is ready. This happened to me the first time I came to this restaurant. This place is not bad, I hope to come around in the evening and get a couple of beers and a burrito, just watch out for the occasional panhandler...

My First time here Located in a low grade neighborhood, no sweet tea, and gives you sweet n low for sugar, carne guisada taco did not taste like original flavor needs salt, potatoe egg and bean taco was made and wrapped very sloppy (see my video) tacos wrapped in parchment paper and foil , parchment paper sticks to taco so becareful u dont eat it while its stuck to ur tortilla,Cilantro WAS NOT FRESH , IT WAS SOFT AND SOGGY TASTED AND SMELLED HORRIBLE , I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE . Tortillas are not homemade, the tacos are very small and not enough to get full off of 2 tacos. I refused to feed the taco I ordered for my 1 year old to my baby , it was so untrusting.I was also asked to pull forward for 3 tacos and 1 large unsweetened tea nd there was no...

Great tacos . Get the tacos aka this is a good taco place. They have a plate with tacos that have charo beans with grilled green onions and jalapeños torreado. Thid location makes their own corn tortillas which puts it on the top of my list for tacos. (The location on telephone uses store bought tortillas). I have also had their tortas which are good. They give you 3 salsas on the table which range from mild to hot. It is a little run down and not in the best part of town, also they have a charge for using a debit or credit card, which dropped it to 4 stars. I will keep coming here......except on karaoke nights, it's a bit too loud.
