I was in the neighborhood for the annual Dia de los Muertos festival at Hidalgo Park. I was craving some Mexican food. There's a lot of food trucks in the area but wanted a place where we can sit with the kids. Taqueria el Sol was less than 5 minutes from the park. Not much parking so it can be hard to find a spot. At first I was skeptical about this place because their menu has like over 100 dishes. I ordered a torta de fajita and 3 tacos( al pastor, fajita and barbacoa). When the dishes came out , all of the meat was steaming hot and food was fresh. The seasoning on all the meats were on point. I enjoyed every bit. We also ordered a plate that included 2 enchiladas de fajita, an amazing crispy bistec (thin beef steak). The bistec was the highlight. I had that crispy sear but still soft inside. This is very hard to accomplish. The enchiladas were also delicious. They had a cheese sauce but it wasn't too pungent. The meats were a little greasy but nothing that took away from the taste. Even the rice was good. I also have to compliment the waitresses, who were excellent and always made sure we had everything we needed. Great experience at Taqueria el Sol de Mexico. FYI portions are big including the tacos so...
Read moreThe food is pretty good, there are some nice waitresses working there. They have specials everyday from their menu which contains many options. The parking lot is pretty small, so finding a parking space during lunch time or dinner might prove to be difficult. I come here a couple of times for lunch since I work close by, I dine in with a co-worker and we're usually in and out in less than 30 minutes. It's probably best if you call ahead to place your order if you plan on eating here during your lunch break, otherwise you run the chance of waiting a long time before your food is ready. This happened to me the first time I came to this restaurant. This place is not bad, I hope to come around in the evening and get a couple of beers and a burrito, just watch out for the occasional panhandler...

Tortillas are not homemade, the tacos are very small and not enough to get full off of 2 tacos. I refused to feed the taco I ordered for my 1 year old to my baby , it was so untrusting.I was also asked to pull forward for 3 tacos and 1 large unsweetened tea nd there was no...
