The restaurant for the most part is nice and clean. I went for breakfast for a little getaway weekend with my wife. As we were driving around Houston, I mentioned to my wife, that we should try this restaurant for breakfast tomorrow morning. So the next day we went to try this restaurant out. We were immediately seated and given menus and drink orders taken. My wife and I were impressed, nice atmosphere, and we stayed optimistic. Waitress brought our drinks, I ordered a tea and my wife ordered a hot chocolate. My wife was pleasantly surprised that it was prepared with Mexican chocolate and a hint of cinnamon. We placed our orders. I ordered two taquitos. I played it safe and decided some taquitos. You can't go wrong a with an easy order of taquitos. So I decided on the all around egg and potato taquito. If you can't make a simple egg and potato taquito for breakfast, you shouldn't be in business. So I orderded one egg and potato taquito and a machecado and egg taquito both with flour tortillas, and my wife ordered a Huevos Rancheros breakfast plate. We waited for our meals and enjoyed each others company. Our order finally arrived and we received our meals. My wife receives her plate with the Huevos Rancheros with a side of refried beans with a sprinkle of white cheese, bacon strips, stewed potatoes, and a container of homemade corn tortillas. Then comes my order. My order was wrong. I had ordered my taquitos with flour tortillas. They had prepared my taquitos with 2 doubled up packaged store bought corn tortillas. One of the first things I noticed in the taquitos was the egg and potato mixture. Unlike the fresh potato side on my wife's place, I noticed they utilized shoe string potatoes***** that would you find in your local grocery store *frozen french fry freezer. *****Just a note the contents of each taquitos was maybe the equivalence of maybe 2 tablespoons of mixture in each. The waitress apologized and went back to kitchen to fix my order. She returns about 10 minutes later with my taquitos in flour tortillas. Well lack of tortillas. The tortillas were maybe 4 1/2 -5 " diameter tortillas. Again they must of have just transferred the contents of my previous taquitos into the new taquitos. It was the same shoe string potatoes and egg mixture. I am from South Texas. The tortillas I am accustomed are usually about the diameter of a medium sized placed plate and filled to accommodate the size of a given tortilla. Let me add, the potato and egg taquito was $2.19 and the machecado and egg taquito was $2.69. Well I finished up my appetizer taquitos and tried to call my server several times with no avail to order some more food. I was left hungry. In addition, the server never returned to check on us. I finally go up to the check out desk at the front of restaurant and get a menu. Finally after some time, still no server to see how meal was or to refill drinks, we decide to leave and pay our ticket. We go up to the front to pay bill. Girl at counter ask if we have our ticket, I tell her no, cause the server never came back to check on us. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant. The value you get for your money is not worth it. The food is fair, but not for the value you are paying for. The service to attention is very lacking. You would get better service at a fast food establishment.
As an added note, if you are going to pay with a credit card, you will be assessed a 3.99% upcharge for using a credit card, supposedly you are supposed to get a 3.99% discount if you pay with cash. Only after leaving the restaurant I noticed i was not given the said discount. I just cut my losses and didn't even bother returning to the...
Read moreMy recent visit to Tepatitlan Mexican Grill was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a vibrant and inviting atmosphere, filled with lively music and the delicious aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, contributing to a very comfortable and enjoyable dining environment.
I decided to try their famous carne asada, and it was truly outstanding – perfectly grilled, incredibly tender, and bursting with rich, savory flavors. It came with a generous side of fluffy Mexican rice and perfectly seasoned refried beans, making for a wonderfully satisfying meal. The fresh guacamole was a highlight, creamy and flavorful, clearly made with ripe avocados. And, of course, the warm, crispy tortilla chips were a perfect accompaniment.
The portion sizes were incredibly generous, offering great value and ensuring there was plenty to enjoy. What truly made the evening memorable was the exceptional service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed. Tepatitlan Mexican Grill delivers top-notch food and service that genuinely makes you want to return. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of their delicious offerings and soak in the...
