As a regular customer my experience at this location recently has been disappointing to say the least. I always order my drink with extra tapioca and recently I have been getting shortchanged on the tapioca. I called the manager once who apologized and said that they would correct the problem. This brings me to an order that I placed today, when I got my drink I noticed that the worker had shook it so that it was difficult to tell how much tapioca was in it. However I could clearly see that they had shortchanged me again. I requested that another drink be made without it being shaken. The worker was upset and proceeded to tell me that they HAVE to shake the drinks. I told her that was a lie because I have ordered this drink many times from different Teahouse locations and no worker has ever shaken the drink to hide how much tapioca was at the bottom. Once I challenged her lie she backed down and proceeded to make my drink the correct way.
The problem now with this location is really the owner being cheap and trying to cut corners to save money. Workers are not going to use these cost cutting tricks unless they are getting pressure from the top. In the future I’ll have to start driving further out for my drink instead of dealing with these games. Clearly this owner doesn’t realize that cheating the customer is never a good business practice. You know it’s bad if an owner is willing to lose a customer just over extra tapioca.
UPDATE- In response to the owner saying that it is standard procedure to shake the drink that is false. I have been to this Teahouse and other locations for many years and they have NEVER shaken the drink before handing it to me. Instead of making excuses this owner should just correct the situation...
Read moreConveniently located in the strip across from the Meyerland Plaza - this is one of the Teahouse locations very close to the freeway so great for quick stops.
Teahouse is possibly the biggest chain of tapioca joints in Houston. This means you can reasonably expect to get that same great taste virtually anywhere in the city. And it also means that they have a nice perks system - you can register at the shop with your phone number and every time you visit get a certain amount of points which will eventually lead to a free drink. They keypad is always next to the register when you're paying so don't forget to register your purchase by entering your phone number.
The possibilities are also endless - they offer sooo many different kinds of drinks from smoothies, or cream to tea and in a wide variety of flavors including the invasive species Taro.
The prices do seem like a bit much for ~$5 a drink but it's twice the amount of liquid you'd get for, say, a tall coffee at Starbucks. Let's face it - novelty drinks were never something you were going to save money on.
The location itself is nothing fancy although it's relatively new. Teahouse locations always seem a bit sticky on the counters and somehow even the air for some reason so I personally wouldn't feel that comfortable spending a few hours here studying or whatnot. Service is fast and reasonably pleasant.
Split cup is not worth it for the price hike. And there's a good bit of sugar so be prepared to order less sugar or half sugar in...
Read moreI was very happy to have a teahouse in my area. I went there on Tuesday to get a taro smoothie which cost $6.50 after tax. When i was paying, i requested for less sweet. The person who helped me was on the phone so after he hung up the phone, he looked back and saw the lady was already blending my drink. He told me, sorry, we started to make it already. I was like…ok. Then i tried the drink, it was so sweet. On the cup it says 150% satisfaction so i told the lady it was too sweet, she gave me an attitude with a long lecture: “you have to say less sweet before you order.” I said i did when i was paying but the guys said yoh have already blended my drink and he didn’t ask me.” She said: “we don’t ask, if you want less sweet, then you have to remember to tell us. I can do this time but we will not do it again”. I was like…i paid $6.50 for the drink, why says 150% satisfaction guarantee then give me grief when i am not satisfied.
There were 3 employees with no other customer than me. Why didn’t the other 2 pick up the phone? It is very unpleasant to be on the phone when you are helping a customer.
So so so...
