I recently visited The Tent - الخيمة restaurant and had an incredibly disappointing experience. Upon entering the restaurant, my party and I found an empty table and began to settle in. A server provided us with menus as we prepared to place our order. However, our experience took a sharp turn when another server approached us and informed us that the table was reserved.
What struck us as odd was the absence of a reservation sign on the table. When we questioned this, the server mentioned that the manager had just informed him about the reservation. This lack of communication and organization was already concerning.
Things escalated when we requested to speak to the manager directly. Upon their arrival, the manager's attitude was shockingly unprofessional. Instead of addressing our concerns with transparency, they provided vague and unsatisfactory responses. When asked why we weren't informed about the reservation earlier, the manager simply blamed the server and mentioned the existence of reservation signs, contradicting the initial situation.
To make matters worse, while we were still discussing the issue, another server placed a reservation sign on the table, despite the manager's claim that they did not have such signs. This inconsistency and lack of honesty only added to our frustration.
Feeling disregarded and unappreciated as customers, we decided to leave the restaurant. It's disheartening to encounter such unprofessionalism and dishonesty, especially from management. I would caution anyone considering dining at The Tent - الخيمة to be wary of the lack of communication, organization, and professionalism that we...
Read moreSoft Opening review:
Checked out The Tent for their soft opening. The atmosphere is visually alluring with the lighting. A laid-back and relaxing feel with the Middle Eastern furniture. You can spend hours hanging out here comfortably, especially under the tents.
The Food: I get the chicken tawook as a gauge on how the rest of the food might be, and if it's any indication of their kitchen skills, then this place gets a 5/5 on that alone. This was the most delicious, tender, succulent chicken tawook I've had in recent memory. The hummus was delicious, and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. I tried the sage tea, and that was a good finisher for my meal.
Areas to Improve: For the grand opening, they'll need to get the service in order. Staff are friendly enough, but it's quite disorganized. Understandable - they're figuring it out. There is no dessert at all on the menu for the soft opening. I would like to suggest that this restaurant do a fresh baked pita or tandoor style bread as the other Mediterranean places close by do this and it's so much better than the grocery store pita that The Tent provides with your meal.
The Tent has serious potential! If you want a good food, comfortable and visiually "cool" spot to smoke your shisha, come check it out now. If you're looking for great service, wait until they work out the kinks after the grand opening. I will update my review in...
Read moreDisappointing Experience Due to Poor Communication by Restaurant Manager
Review: My recent visit to THE TENT] left much to be desired, primarily due to the inadequate communication exhibited by the restaurant manager. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that there was a lack of coordination among the staff, and any attempts to seek clarification or assistance were met with indifference from the manager.
Not only were we left waiting for an extended period without any explanation, but when we finally managed to get the manager's attention, their responses were dismissive and unhelpful. Instead of addressing our concerns or providing reassurance, they seemed more interested in avoiding confrontation.
In a hospitality setting, effective communication is essential to ensuring a positive dining experience for patrons. Unfortunately, the manager's failure to communicate effectively not only detracted from our enjoyment but also reflected poorly on the overall ambiance of the restaurant.
It's disheartening to see such disregard for customer satisfaction, especially from someone in a leadership role. Until there are significant improvements in the communication skills and professionalism of the management team, I'm hesitant to return to THE TENT] or recommend it to others.
Make sure to have more hosts and more reserved signs next time for other customers not getting my...
