Tostada Regia Westheimer — Restaurant in Houston

The only decent worker is this super peppy waiter guy that I had on my last visit. But yesterday's visit was horrible.

The minute I came in, the staff was inattentive. My husband and I found our own seats because the hostess who is supposed to be at her booth was chatting up with cashier. I thought it was just us till I noticed she was doing it the whole time of our visit while people just found their own seats coming in.

I saw my waitress 2 times. 1 to take orders and 2nd to bring food. That's it. The rest of the time is what had me upset. So we finished our food and were waiting for someone to come by with the check. I sat for 30minutes with empty plates just waiting. Now this is the layout, 7 tables with ppl, it's a Thursday so it's not busy, the peppy waiter had 4 tables to himself, another waitress had 1, and my waitress had my table and another. My waitress was missing for 30minutes and the other 2 waiters were simply just taking care of their tables nowhere near usus which is not the part that upsets me.

The part that pissed me off is that during that time, there was a group of 3-4 women including the waitress with only 1 table just laughing it up. I could hear having a great time even though I'm all the way across the restaurant. I go over to the cashier and ask for the check to be brought and then my waitress finally comes back 15minutes later, not with the check, to ask if we want the Check. 45 minutes of poor customer service. I still tipped her because I believe in thinking the best in ppl. She could have been busy in the back even though these 4 lazy staff members weren't doing their jobs.

My advise to the manager is to have the hostess at her post. If she would have been at her post, she would have noticed this side of the restaurant being neglected. Also, if the restaurant is that slow and you have that much staff doing nothing, at least have 1 of t hem go around and check to see if everyone's ok. Just had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I will say the food is always great I have ordered from this restaurant on door dash all of the time but with my sister being in town we dined at the restaurant. When we walked in there were no proper greetings. My sister ordered a coffee and noticed that the spoon she received had food residue so she kindly returned it to the waitress to exchange for a new one. The waitress then returned with the same spoon only she removed the hardened food and the stain was still on the back of the spoon. My sister knew because she still felt the sticky handle from the previous time. After placing the order I noticed my cutlery packet only had a fork so I asked the waitress to bring me a new one since it seemed as it was used already. She responded with “I don’t think you are going to need one”. I was shocked at her response and looked at my sister and said ok I guess I don’t need a spoon for the salsa on my enchiladas. My father noticed that she went to go gossip about us to her co workers so I asked to speak to one of the employees who I thought was the manager and made him aware of the two occasions. He kindly apologized about the situation and offered to bring me a new packet of cutlery. After waiting over 30 minutes for our food we noticed that all of the guests that arrived after us were already eating their food. We then decided to just pay for our drinks and go after being there for over an hour. Manager did absolutely nothing and after discussing with my parents it turned out that they had also previously had a bad experience with the manager when she was a waitress. She made an inappropriate comment towards my dad. Overall the level of professionalism is not there and they strongly need extensive training about customer service. This a good and solid Mexican restaurant with a great open nice view to all staff. Let’s begin with the food quality. 1st - super great and fresh quality of food and the chips and salsa are so addicting that one can easily forget the order you place and not to mention is an unlimited amount of chips and salsa they serve unlike other restaurants after first basket they are quick to charge for a refill. 2nd - everything on the menu is delicious and the kids meals are very generous along for the adults but like previously stated don’t get hooked on the salsa and chips or you will be asking for a to go box. 3rd - the restroom quality and cleanliness is definitely up to par unlike other Mexican restaurants you walk on in and your quickly running out because of the smell or because it’s not to what most normal people would consider to be clean. Last but not least the staff - very professional and always attentive to any customer requests or walking on in but don’t wait to be seated you walk on in and pick your own table because they claim picking your own table breaks the ice automatically and makes you feel relaxed and sets the welcoming atmosphere for the establishment and I can definitely agree with this. In overall no complaints about this location and food quality definitely a must try and the receipt is based on 3 adults and a child all with drinks not a bad price for a great meal.
