Let me start out by saying OMG, amazing! I have had this place saved in my places to visit for quite some time now, never realizing that it's only half a mile from my daughter's school. So as I scrolled for coffee shops, I realized I had saved Xela Coffee. They've received great reviews so I obliged and was NOT disappointed at all.
The staff was kind. I let them know it was my first time visiting, and they happily helped me pick out a coffee that is similar to what I make when at home. I ordered the Mocha -which I don't usually do mocha flavorings of any kind- but man it was perfect. It had a cinnamony flavor and wasn't too heavy on the mocha side.
The menu is short, and although this was my first time visiting Xela Coffee, I'm willing to bet that what they do have on the menu has been perfected! 👌
**And for those who are worried about contact because of Covid-19, they have a two-way box where they set the coffee inside and then you open the door on the outside and grab your coffee. It's a nice walk up, order @ window, fast, & convenient place to stop by especially if you don't like waiting in long lines at more corporate coffee shops. There is a small outside patio to...
Read moreThe coffee is great, the teas are amazing, no discussion about it.
However, the service could improve.
-The guy taking orders isn’t very friendly, it’s the second time during this pandemic that we have shown up and the communication isn’t his biggest skill, seems to always be on a rush.
-The waiting time during Covid is huge, this are hard times we know, however as a coffee shop people sometimes just want a coffee and that’s it, we have show up at the time they open, with one or two people waiting for an order and we have waited around 30 minutes (If that’s gonna be the case, it doesn’t hurt your customers to let them know what to expect for the waiting time), for a to-go coffee that is a little bit too much.
-They don’t take cash, guys you’re on the East End, el segundo barrio and many people around and their families still uses cash. Not using it or accepting it despite the situation is to segment big part of the target of the place where you’re doing business in.
I changed my review from 3* to 4* because of your reply and to show appreciation for your product, but I’m still firm on what i think based on my experiences have been when...
Read moreWe had pour over for 2 of a Mexican single origin. This place is definitely a must if your interested in specialty coffee. The staff was friendly and the service was quick.
A pour over for two is quite inexpensive and is close to 48oz of coffee. Which about enough for everyone to have a small cup of coffee in a group of 4. They accept card though square payments and you can give tips in cash.
The benefit of having the coffee freshly roasted is quite apparent as every cup is full bodied and boldly flavored. Honestly, I don't know if I have had a better cup of coffee and know now that I need a lot of work on my home set up.
They are quite accommodating as well. Once we were done with our pour over we requested two togo cups and they were happy to oblige.
Some important notes: Seating is arranged outside, you can order togo paper cups or have your order in a cup and saucer, and your dishes should go under the Buddha statue. No bathrooms and the hours are subject to flexibility when they are out finding new origin coffees. It's pronounced...
