Have lived in Howell for 25 years and have tried just about every Chinese place on rt 9 through the years. While some were ok some, others were a big disppoinment because of their hype and reputation, but I think we have finally found our "go to place" and this is it, so far. This mother's day our plans were to bbq, but mother nature had other plans because it was totally rained out so we ordered chinese. I wanted to try some place different so we did and rolled the dice. My kids are not big Chinese food fans unless I cook it but today was mother's day and the kitchen was off limits, at least to me, lol. I found the Howell Kitchen. Yea, some place new. One son, who is a physical fitness nut ordered the chicken and vegetables, my other son only like steak and ordered the steak on a stick and beef fried rice. Hubby, just wanted egg drop wonton soup while he made himself pasta. Me....I went with my tried and true roast pork egg fu young. I placed the order on line which was soooo much more convenient easy. I mentioned in the order to please give us extra sauces, ie soy, duck and hot mustard. My newly licensed teenager "surprisingly" lol volunteered to pick up our order, even though it was really cold and wet outside but he was o excited.like when I ask my dog if he wants to go for a ride in the car. When he got home I noticed they did not give us any extra sauces and there were no fried noodles. My son offered to go back but i didnt want him driving in that rain anymore, i was on pins and needles when he went to pick it up. So while Being a little disgusted and disappointed we dug in to our perspective dinners. Needless to say, we are more than satisfied with our selections. My son's devoured their food with a lot of "yums", "oh my gods" and "this is really goods" As for my dinner all I can say is "Finally, EggFooYoung that tastes like EggFooYoung."!!!!! The gravy was spot on and abundant, rich and creamy without that nasty after taste that so many before had. The egg rolls were light and crispy and not oily. In other words, other than the lack of the requested additional sauces or crunchy noodles the food was still unbelievably delish. But my son forgot to pick up menu, so looks like i will have to go back real soon to get one and maybe try something new off...
Read moreWas loving this place for a while! We used to go to China Moon but the quality of their food was became inconsistent.. Both there boneless ribs & the General Tso’s chicken used to be fresh and delicious but most times tough and dry. Like it was old leftover meat reheated. So we switched to Howell Kitchen and for a long while was delicious! Super fresh and good! The people who work there are very nice and it’s very clean HOWEVER I have noticed the last few times we ordered the General Tso’s chicken was not good at all! Very dried out, chewy and my kids were spitting it out because they could not chew it.. wondering if this is something many Chinese restaurants do? Saving old leftover meat & reheating. We are a family of 6 so we spend a lot of money when we order like $60-$70 dollars for Chinese. I’m thinking we will try some place else if it happens again🙁 Disappointing because I really like the people who work there and there other dishes are delicious but PLEASE make your boneless ribs and General Tso’s...
Read moreMy wife waited over 40 minutes which was fine, but expecting to pick up good food. We opened the fried rice and I thought white rice was accidentally put in my order. There was literally a sprinkle of soy sauce on it and that was the fried rice? The sweet and sour sauce was forgotten for the sweet and sour chicken, and the boneless spare ribs were hardly edible they were so over cooked. I will never order from here again. If I could give 0...
