So first I have to say that normally this place is amazing, we live in the twin cities and whenever we cross the border and Joe to Go is open we stop there because their coffee is outstanding, which is why this morning was so disappointing. We got Hawaian Dreams, a favorite, but both our coffees were under flavored, at first we thought maybe they hadn’t been stirred or mixed, but a lot of juggling in the car and stirring with a straw did nothing to improve it. The coffee had a bitter after taste too, when previously I would say their coffee is the smoothest I had ever tasted. We also ordered a cruller, it was so sad: dry, flavorless, and the glaze was nearly liquid so an absolute mess. I noticed that they had Sweet Beet Bakery products instead of Bread Art, This place is not it, normally I don’t order bakery with my coffee, but previously their items were so good we would here , but after trying something from this new bakery I wouldn’t in the future. There was a barista that I had never seen before today, given that we aren’t super regular customers I can’t say if they were just starting out or not. I am posting with the hope that the next time we come back we will have the outstanding coffee and experience, which we have become...
Read moreIt was my husband and I’s first time here and we were kind of stunned at the options. I usually like cayenne and chocolate in my lattes so I was surprised they had a drink option like that. My husband likes his lattes extremely sweet and no chain coffee company ever seems to reach that for him either. The owner (I didn’t catch your name, miss!) was so nice to offer remaking my drink in case her suggestions of the habanero syrup was too much. Her suggestion was perfect and I in fact asked for more spice and made my latte so deliciously sweet and spicy. My husband’s latte was exactly to his liking as well and we just felt like she really listened and really tailored our coffees with the perfect touch. I was so impressed with her ‘bread art’ as well, the pistachio croissant was moist and had such a smooth pistachio filling. I don’t even really write reviews for coffee shops but felt like Joe to Go exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond, while maintaining a high quality product. Awesome...
Read moreI asked for 4 shots of espresso on ice and they literally wouldn't serve it. They advised me that it shocks the espresso, which is a fair point, but I like it on ice. They still wouldn't serve it on ice so I ordered the 4 shots and a cup with ice. My problem with the experience was not the objection to serve it on ice. My problem was not that I was charged for a separate cup of ice. My problem was that they literally refused to put the ice in the same cup, which created twice as much post-consumer waste...all to make a passive aggressive point. The espresso was good, even on ice. Maybe espresso shouldn't be poured over ice. A maybe espresso shouldn't be made into something called a "Carmel Cozy" either. Make solid ecological decisions before you high-road someone on...
