Overall a disappointing meal. None of the dishes that my group ordered resembled the (apparently stock) photos of the dishes in the menu, and sometimes the dish didn't even include ingredients in the written description. My dining partners said the meat in their dishes did not match the description or type of ramen they ordered. I guess the restaurant's idea of pork belly is bacon or something. My vegetarian agedashi tofu was very disappointing, served dry with a bland sauce on the side. The vegetarian ramen was even more disappointing; bland broth with an excess of even blander cabbage, a few pieces of corn, a few pieces of bamboo, and the mushrooms advertised on the menu were missing from the dish. Chewy noodles, very different in texture from the ramen dishes I get at Twin Cities restaurants. I hate writing negative reviews about small family-owned restaurants, but their menu didn't match the food they served which is a huge strike in my opinion and is worth sharing. One positive is that the decor inside is nice, colorful, and the restaurant seemed very clean and orderly. My mango boba tea was also good.
I think some significant improvements could be made if the menu more accurately depicted the food they serve, if the cuts of meat were higher quality, and if their vegetarian ramen had fried tofu, mushrooms, and maybe a choice of an egg as an...
Read moreTsuta Ramen is far from what I'd hoped for Hudson's first ramen experience. I understand it's only recently opened but the food lacked any sort of depth. Everything was tasteless and overly salted. The ramen I recieved had two pieces of fried bacon as the protein, string mushrooms, one radish, a seaweed square and instant ramen noodles. If you could power through the underwhelming originality you'd still have a face full of sodium.
The inside of Tsuta is quite nice actually. They really did a good job updating the space. Unfortunately, I don't pride myself on picking places solely based around ambiance so it didn't do much for me. The service was also very professional and friendly.
Do I think this might be opening week kinks? I hope so. Is this place right for you? Maybe, but the cities has far better ramen joints that have been established for quite sometime. (Tori for example) Would I go back? No.
I don't normally bring down restaurants in a review but the other people who reviewed seemed to leave out vital information. I...
Read moreBased on the name, tsuta or 蔦 which is a kind of ivy, we tried this place, and happily they put fake ivy in the entryway. Due to covid they only do carry out now. I’ll preface this review by saying that we are from Japan and have lived there (me). We tried mango boba tea, beef donburi (牛肉どんぶり) and takoyaki (タコ焼き). We were enthralled by the smell but the taste of their donburi was bland. The rice was not properly sticky. They gave us forks, instead of chopstix. The tako yaki should be spherical shape, NOT cylindrical. There was no 生姜 (ginger) with tako yaki. Their donburi would be good with some shichimi 七味 spice. Without it kimchi is required. WiFi seemed to be available but password protected. Boba...
