Festival Foods — Local services in Hudson

I was hoping this relatively new store would price items competitively. Generally, there are not many cars in their big parking lot. Three different times, I went there to buy a rotisserie chicken. It was clearly priced at $7.99 on the rack. It rang up as $8.99. When I complained, the clerk quickly changed the price to $7.99. She seemed embarrassed. Something is wrong with this retailer. With places all over Hudson to buy food, Festival isn't making the mark. Five minutes away in Woodbury, prices are much lower. Kwik Trip in Hudson has rotisserie chicken on Mondays for $6.99. I gave one star to Festival because most retailers almost never mis-label prices. Here, it happened three times on the same item. Prices are high at Festival. Nearby Aldi's in Hudson undercuts Festival's prices by a lot. Aldi's charges $.80 less today for a half...

I went into this new-looking store in search of artisanal cheese, and I was very pleased at the broad selection of import and domestic cheeses. I found several I hadn't tried yet. As I went toward the checkouts, I saw the spices and herbs section. I was thrilled to find celery flakes available, and for a reasonable cost! That ingredient is weirdly hard to find around the region.

I went to the self check-outs. One of my cheeses had a smeared barcode that wouldn't scan. I hit the "help" button on the screen, and a checker immediately came over to manually input that item.

While I was in the grocery side, my husband checked out the liquor store. He bought a number of beers to take home, including some that were new to him.

I pre-ordered a fresh turkey for Tuesday pick up (today). When I arrived to get my turkey, the kid at the meat counter said he couldn't find them and thought they were out. He suggested to come back tomorrow or Thursday or there were frozen turkeys. I was sent to the deli because he thought it would be already prepared. Another young lady brought me back to meat counter where a customer service manager listened to my story. He tried to make it right and gave me a gift card.
