My husband and I visited Kith and Kin two hours after their grand opening. We were seated at a table right behind of the host stand which had four people standing behind it. The constant activity behind us was kind of bothersome. We were greeted immediately by our over the top happy server who informed us that there were no draft beers, only cans available today. I went to sip my water and there was a buggy floating on the top of its watery grave. Eep! The bread was brought to the table before ordering. I went to grab a piece and immediately felt a wetness to it. To my surprise the bottom of the bread was moist and doughy being that it was under cooked. My husband and I started with the clam chowder and the tomato bisque which were swiftly brought to us within minutes of ordering. My tomato bisque was not what I was expecting. It was as though the tomatoes were sun dried which I feel should've been noted on their menu, as that tomato is kind of an acquired taste. My husband said the "chowda" was excellent. In addition to the soup, I ordered the $31 dry aged sirloin which was a 12 oz sirloin with potatoes and shoe string onions and he ordered the scallops with tomato confit and asparagus. When they both arrived I was taken back at how small his portion was. There were six small scallops with these pathetic little asparagus strings. Lucky for him, I had steak to share! Once I got my fork into the steak to cut I noticed it was not a 12 oz sirloin, but two 6 oz side by side. Very misleading! The steak itself was excellent, however the onion strings were flaccid and seemed to be thrown in the oil to cook before the oil was the correct temp making them soggy and limp. It was kind of frustrating to order a $31 entree and it come with lumpy potatoes and soggy onions. The service overall was good, but a little too in your face. I expected A LOT more from this place especially since we paid $80+ for the meal. This place WANTS to be fine dining, but I think it's not the right atmosphere for it especially with how loud it was inside. The quality control is just not there. I feel like this place would do great if they calmed down on the menu and had more...
Read moreThis place is fantastic!!! From the rustic and hip decor, to the upscale comfort food, thoughtful wine and beer list and unique craft cocktails, I will be coming here often! We tried the smoke tomato bisque and the chowder, both delish!! Love the Smokey flavor to the bisque, and I'm sorry, but chowder with bacon is THE BEST chowdah EVAH. To the woman below who said the tomato bisque wasn't clear on the menu, ummm it clearly states "smoked" sooooo guess you should brush up on your reading comprehension. We also tried the Beyond Burger, the Mac and Cheese and the "Fish and Chips". Everything was melt in your mouth gooooood!!! I had never had skate wing before and wow was I surprised at how flavorful and buttery it was! Our server was wonderful, very cheerful and helpful answering questions and bringing everything to the table swiftly. Considering this was opening weekend, I am beyond impressed and I suspect it will only get better as staff work out the kinks and become a well oiled machine. Such a welcomed addition to this cute little town. And may I just say this to the woman who rushed to judgment and wrote a negative review within hours of this place opening... you clearly know nothing about the restaurant industry, nor do you have an empathetic bone in your body. This beautiful new neighborhood restaurant is owned by a local family who have poured their hearts and souls into this place. Give them and their staff a chance! I have one word for you: Karma. THANK YOU KITH AND KIN for a wonderful experience, I look forward to...
Read moreThis is a great local place.
Food is delicious and you can get brunch lunch and dinner every day of the week. Sundays they do close at 4pm for a well deserved rest.
Also many people complain about parking. I have eaten here over a 100 times and have never had to walk more than 1 minute. They have. Small parking lot in back. On street parking on the side street of the restaurant is always there. Also many people park it the armory parking lot across the street and there is a crosswalk right there. There is plenty of parking within 1 minute. The large public lot is also a 2 to 3 minute walk. Stretch your legs and enjoy Hudson.
The brunch is awesome. You have original dishes like the breakfast gnocchi you can’t find anywhere else and the delicious items like steak and blue Benedict. If going for dinner you will never have a better pork chop and the seasonal tuna variation. Is always killer. If you ever want any modifications etc the kitchen is great and a true scratch kitchen. They smoke their own meats which are always delicious
The drinks are all delicious and they have a great bourbon selection. They have a seasonal menu that changes a couple times a year too.
Service is always good and it is like a local cheers with a lot of regulars for both lunch and dinner. Sit down and join in and it will be one of your local go to spots.
