This last visit was a hail mary but won't be returning. Our waitress was a young lady with dirty blonde hair and plenty of sunless tanner. This past winter I came here with my brother all the beer tasted like dirty taps and we both actively got food sick. Since I live within a 1/4 mile I figured I'd give it another shot. When we arrived with our 9 month old baby in a stroller, they refused to open the patio door directly leading to the sidewalk and made my wife and I carry the baby and stroller around the entire walkway and stairs. Not a good start but whatever. We ordered an $18 dollar Tuna Poke Nacho app and a $29 dollar Fried Clam entree to go (limited time with the baby). As we were waiting I overheard the table next to us ask for Ketchup with their burgers and the waitress told them they were out of both Ketchup and Mayo and "sorry but there's nothing I can do for you" - these 4 older people said they're never coming back. Then our app came out with literally just Chips, Tuna and sauce - no rice, no garnish, no wasabi peas no nothing. Hmm - it tasted ok but for $18? next our "to-go" entree and check came out and I noticed the "market price" for the clams was $29 - hmm kind of pricey but whatever let me at least check it out and if it's a good portion I'll roll with it. Nope. the portion was so small I wouldn't even pay $20 for this if I knew. I politely just let the waitress know "hey for $30 this is looking pretty light on the clams - can you ask them to give us a little more?". I was in the restaurant industry for over 10 years - I've seen it all and I'm willing to forgive just about anything within reason. She came back about 60 seconds later and claimed that "the kitchen weighed the clams on a scale and they're lighter than what we sent out - it's really he said she said at this point and my kitchen literally understands zero english so nothing I can do for you" and walked away - SHE ACCUSED US OF EATING THEM AND TRYING TO GET MORE FOR FREE - HAHA! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I told her we'll never be coming back and she laughed in my face. wow way to treat your customers - especially those who live within a 1/4 mile and have people over and out to eat in the area all the time. a lot of business to lose!
1 beer - 1 mediocre app - 1 under portioned entree and 1 accusation of lying cost us $70 after tip - NEVER will I...
Read moreI went here over the weekend when visiting my parents, it was one of the worst food experiences I've had in a long time.
First let me state that it was not overly busy and we went early afternoon. We sat on the bar side of the restaurant and were seated quickly.
I ordered their spicy margarita that they make like a bulldog (small bottle of Corona inverted in the glass.) I was told that they didn't have the coronas, but that was fine with me. What I wasn't expecting however was to be served in a pint glass, no salt, no spice, just an overly chemically tasting drink that was being passed off as a margarita.
I ordered their spicy Ramen noodle bowl, my mother ordered the lobster roll, and my wife ordered their chicken Caesar if I am not mistaken.
The lobster roll was what looked like someone shucked a lobster and literally dumped the contents onto a roll and then sent it out. That's it. It was shocking that the 30 dollars they charged would be served in such a way. I've never seen a lobster roll done like that. Not even a lemon wedge.
The ramen was not good. It consisted of what tasted like a Campbell's soup broth that had Texas Pete hot sauce added to it for "spice," some sad looking diced carrots, celery, a hard boiled egg, and some of the most overcooked tough to chew chicken chunks I've had. The noodles were there, but in name only. Limp, lazy, and utterly lacking in flavor or texture. There really isn't much else to say, it was a very poorly executed ramen dish.
As for the Salad my wife said it was not bad, but it wasn't very satisfying, it just was. Which, I guess after everything else can be counted on as a win.
My father only ordered the potato chips. I tried them, they were pretty decent.
All in all I would not recommend anyone to go here based on my experience, if you're looking to have a decent meal or a well made drink.
I would say their beer selection is quite impressive and definitely a reason to go if you're looking for a wide variety to choose from and are okay with perhaps sticking to wings, fries, chips and the like for something to nibble on.
I don't much enjoy writing bad reviews because a lot goes into what makes a meal both good or bad and it is not always the food for either outcome. However, this one I feel is...
Read moreI live in Florida, but visit Hudson, Massachusetts quite frequently (at least half a dozen times a year) and have eaten at this restaurant several times. My previous visits were pleasant and the food and service were good. However, tonight, it was different.
We arrived for dinner around and it wasn’t particularly busy. When the waitress arrived, I ordered the steak frites as it was a menu option I had not sampled previously. I was informed that that particular option wasn’t available and instead ordered the shepherds pie.
It was not good at all and tasted odd. I took two or three bites and then gave up completely. The waitress returned five minutes later and asked if I was finished. She noticed that I had not eaten much of it and asked me why. I told her that it just wasn’t very good and she informed me that she would go talk to the manager regarding the matter.
She disappeared for approximately 10 minutes and when she returned, she asked if we wanted dessert and when we told her we did not, she brought the check. At no point did she ask if I wanted to try a different menu option and on top of that, the manager never appeared.
The check included the shepherds pie that I did not eat. This was particularly frustrating because she offered to bring the manager to the table, even though I did not request it, and frankly, if a customer clearly doesn’t like something and doesn’t eat it, they shouldn’t be charged or, at the very least, be offered something else.
On the way back to the house, I was still quite hungry and because of the late hour, ended up stopping at Burger King. We went out for a nice dinner and I wound up eating Burger King. I think you can imagine how utterly disappointing that is. As a result of this experience, I’m not particularly keen on visiting the restaurant when I return to Hudson in...
