Great food, great beer and wine selection and super friendly service. This was such a great experience that I had to give 5 stars when I would normally not, especially as we found it expensive. We stumbled upon this place while driving through this neat little historic town. We asked for outdoor seating when other places were not serving their patios, and the hostesses, after expressing they thought it was too cold out, happily sat us outside regardless. As we assumed we would be the only ones outside and an inconvenience to them, we offered to sit inside but they assured us it would be no problem for them as long as we were willing to sit out there. They had heat lamps but we were told they were only lit if there were a lot of people outside. No biggie. The service was so friendly and efficient. We were told our dogs in the car were welcome to join us in the outdoor seating, and the awesome waitress even brought out a bowel of water for them when we brought them to the table. The beer and wine selection was great, especially as they were local brands. The beer selection was also not entirely of IPAs to my surprise and I found good beers to choose from. Of course one goes to a restaurant for food, and the food here was delicious. What helped make the experience pleasant was more and more people came to sit outside and came to meet our dogs. With more people sitting outse, the proprietor came out and lit the heating lanps, while chatting with and welcoming the patrons. The bill was high. The place is not cheap. We spent $200 which included the tip for only two people. However this may keep the riff raff out, and regardless it seemed to be worth it. If or when we find ourselves out that way again, as Hudson is a neat little town to visit near Cuyahoga Valley National Park, we intend to visit this...
Read moreMy friend and I have a long tradition of periodically, (once or twice a year), getting together for cocktails and apps at Larger & Vine, especially since they serve our favorite drink...the Chocolate Raspberry Martini. And their appetizers are pretty darn good.
So, after our second round of Martinis, our server informed us that they ran out of one of the cocktail's ingredients and the drink was being removed from the Happy Hour menu. This was fine, but then she went on to say that we will be charged full price if we order it for our next round. We were confused... if they were out of an ingredient, how could we order it? How can you just remove a drink from a printed Happy Hour menu mid-happy hour and when they apparently are still able to make the drink, albeit at full price?
Could it be that the "ingredient" they ran out of was a lower quality liquor and had to sub out with a top-shelf item? This is the only explanation I can think of since the server told us that we would be charged "full price" if we wanted to order them again. We were both very turned off by this tactic and chose not to order anything else.
What the heck Lager & Vine? We are hugely disappointed and probably won't return for our next...
Read moreThe restaurant was nice, the food was good, and the staff was friendly. Drinks were a little on the strong side, not a problem for me. Pricing was affordable especially during happy hour.
My fiancée and I’s issue was we came to sit in one of the booths, they put us by the bar, which wouldn’t have been a problem if different groups at the bar weren’t staring at us the entire time.
I mean it honestly felt like the other patrons didn’t want us to be there. We weren’t talking loud, we were dressed nice. But every time I’d look over at my fiancée I’d catch someone just staring relentlessly at us like they wanted us to go. It made it very uncomfortable to eat. The atmosphere created was so awful we couldn’t finish our food or drinks, it ruined our night out, we decided just to go home because we felt so uncomfortable.
Update:
We’re still not quite sure why this night ended up how it did, the best thing we can think of is there was some sort of double booked event and they had to seat us in someone’s reserved area. If this mixup was cleared up we’d enjoy...
