Man, I hate to be posting this review, because I really, truly thought I liked this place. The manager, Edgar, is an awesome guy, but tonight, they totally dropped the ball on us, and I will not be coming back. Ever. Here's why:
My friends and I came in for a Cinco De Mayo celebration. We sat at the bar. As a fellow bartender, I fully respect how busy they were, but we we ended up sitting for more than 30 minutes before we were even offered a drink. When half of us finally received a drink, we were then met with a cold shoulder from the bartenders. We were nothing but pleasant, and patiently waited our turn.
Some members of our group joined us a little bit late, and sat for almost an hour before finally flagging down a bartender. When we did, the bartender exclaimed loudly "could we not see how busy they were?!". All the while, the gentleman sitting beside us was served so much that he was standing in his chair screaming racist chants loudly over the entire restaurant. Joke's on him, most of our group could speak Spanish. His drinks were refilled at least 4 times before some of us were even offered a single one.
Not knowing what was going on, and to try and appease the situation, a member of our party tried to order a margarita tower for everyone, which the bar was sending out left and right. We were blatantly told "no." Most of our party members hadn't even gotten a drink yet.
Two members of our party left the building after being denied a single drink, and the bartender approached them with such hostility. One of the men put $40 on the bar and said, "put it toward their tab", pointing at my friends and I, who some of us had received a beer. The bartenders proceeded to pocket the money and charge us a second time for all the drinks that were already paid for. I didn't notice they put auto-gratuity on our tab, so I tipped my usual (bad service) 18%, we then accidentally ended up tipping 36%, (that was on us) which was an absolute mistake. It was so bad, it felt like they were targeting us. Why? I don't know. It was genuinely my worst bar experiences to date.
This is the second time my friends and I were treated like this at this location. I love the food from their food trucks, and wanted so badly to give them another chance, but man did they let me and my friends down. We will never, ever come back to this place. To anyone reading this, go 4 minutes down the road to Tequila's. There's a reason Tequila's had a line out the door tonight and Lalos didn't.
I've never been more sober and more unhappy on Cinco de Mayo. I'd give zero stars if I could. To the (scammer) bartenders, enjoy...
Read moreTwo of us went for dinner Thurs evening. There is off street parking behind building. Large well lighted & decorated room with mostly tables & a few booths. Although there was plenty of seating for two, & few other diners, we were seated in large booth next to noisy group of staff & boisterous friends passing time behind us. With overhead Mexican music from speakers & the very loud conversations & laughter only a few feet away, we had trouble hearing server & each other. Nice dish of guac & chips served immediately. Our server, Alejandro, was terrific; knowledgeable, polite, & answered questions about food courteously. We decided on chicken & steak fajitas which arrived quickly on hot skillets & served with plate of beans, savory rice & small portion of shredded lettuce, tomato bits & dollop of sour cream. Only two small tortillas were offered with each meal...not enough but we were brought more when we asked. Chicken cooked to perfection, but steak was overcooked & very tough; a poor cut of meat with some gristle. I had a house margarita, which was huge & delicious, but at $11.99 a little pricey. Alejandro was attentive to our needs & we told him about tough steak. He apologized & offered to bring another serving, but I declined. He must have passed along info & woman, possibly mgr., came to our booth to inquire about food. Later Alejandro came with check & said they had taken 15% off bill, which was very considerate. Overall, food, except for steak, was good & flavorful but not outstanding. Because of unpleasant noise levels, which in all fairness, could change from nite to nite, & expense of everything on menu, we probably...
Read moreNice food and friendly staff, convenient location right on Main Street Hudson. Have visited twice. Venue: smaller in size. Decor is low key, almost spartan, and on the darker side. Chairs are functional but could be more comfortable. Staff: many younger people, including hosts/hostesses and servers, all very friendly. Service was prompt, responsive and courteous, if not 'polished'. Our orders were prepared correctly I both cases. Food: tried the carnitas platter, pollo toluca, and beef and pork tacos. Overall food was good to very good. Ingredients felt and looked very fresh, presentation was good. Taste and texture were very pleasant. Seasoning, while typically Mexican, was on the softer (but not bland) side, making the food appealing to a wider audience but perhaps less memorable. Food was not 'hot' although reasonably hot sauce is available upon request. Overall a good place to eat an informal meal, safe for those who are not adventurous but still enjoyable for those who are. I would...
