We gave Hudson Appliance the dimensions of the refrigerator that we needed to replace and accepted their recommendation. The item they delivered, however, was too deep and did not fit the space, actually blocking one of the entrances to our unit. We also had told them that the doors had to be reversed to open on the right, but that was not how it was delivered.
When advising them of the problems, Hudson asked if we had checked the dimensions of the unit they recommended; to which I replied, “Did you check the dimensions we gave YOU?” No reply. When I asked why the installers didn’t call Hudson to alert them that the refrigerator was blocking the door, I was told that they “just deliver and set up.” When we told them that the doors were not reversed as we had asked, they told us that they could not be reversed; despite their telling us originally that they could.
Despite this being clearly their fault, when we asked them to take it back, Hudson said that we would be responsible for a 30% restocking fee. We had considered going to Small Claims Court to resolve this, and we are confident that we would have won; however, we decided that it was not worth our time to save $250. They eventually took back the refrigerator and charged the 30% restocking. We ultimately ended up getting a better deal and far better service from Percy’s in Worcester.
Having spent 30 years in senior management for large and small retail companies, I can say with conviction that this was extremely poor customer service and one of the worst experiences I have ever had as a consumer. I do not like leaving negative reviews, particularly for small box stores, but given their indifference to us, I feel compelled to call out Hudson Appliance for this terrible experience. Additional comment in response to Hudson Appliance: To be clear, we provided Hudson with all the specs of the unit we needed to replace, yet they delivered a unit that was 3" deeper and never reversed the door hinges. There is something called “Implied Warranty of Fitness for a Particular Purpose”, a legal guarantee that goods are suitable for a buyer's specific use, provided the seller knew of the purpose and the buyer was relying on the seller's expertise to select the goods. Hudson knew what we needed, but they failed to provide it. Their installers could see that the unit didn't fit, but they left it blocking the door anyway.
Hudson was 100% at fault, and they should have absorbed their "restocking fee." If they had, I would not have left this bad review. Apparently, "industry standards" take precedence over...
Read moreI spent $5000 there and wish I never walked in the door! I would have gotten better service from a big box store! The events from the beginning...The arrogant delivery guy insisted that my brand new (purchased from a plumber) metal washing machine hose leaked all on it's own...hmmm...and that I needed to give him $15 for a new one or he'd just walk out leaving me with a washing machine that was not operational and I could call a plumber to fix it. So I gave him the $15 for which I never received a receipt...hmmm... lunch? Then comes the 2k fridge. To level it at my request...hmm...he opened the bottom freezer door and picked the fridge up by the open door!...hinges???...Then on the way out I see that my storm door is broken! When I pointed this out, he arrogantly said that "I" had broken it when I let him in! Then the argument ensued! I told him to leave! He said he had to get his tools...I followed him in, he took his tools and on the way out decided he would put the cabinet knob back on the cabinet. I told him to leave it and leave my house! He said NO! and continued to attach the knob, I again said leave it alone and get out! And again he refused! I was ready to call the cops! I said, it's not good practice to argue with the customer! He said he wasn't arguing! I said you're arguing about not arguing now GET OUT! I called the store....got transferred to the owner, had to leave a voicemail. I asked him to call me asap. NEVER A CALL!!! He got a fix it guy to call me who came to my house, another employee with a bad attitude! Said that the wind could have broken the door! on a not wind day! Said it could have been like that before they got there! He replaced a part lol...he put it on backward! and the darn door still didn't close! I had to end up getting my handyman to turn the part around and shim the door! I would NEVER EVER recommend Hudson Appliance to anyone ever! To this day I have not received a call from the owner! Are you scared to call me? Don't like conflict? I'd better get a call from this review or I'll stand in front of their store and tell my story to everyone that walks by never mind has intention to spend thousands of dollars there!!! Do yourself a favor and RUN from...
Read moreAfter 20+ years of being my family’s go-to grill, the old Weber finally succumbed to father-time. With summer fast approaching, I was in desperate need to replace Old Reliable and was in a panic. I first went to a bigger name store (rhymes with West Guy) assuming they would be able to meet my dire needs.
Within the first 6 minutes I knew I was in the wrong place. The sales associate was not only utterly clueless when it came to my grilling matters, she was completely passionless and incapable of supplying any customer support. After 9 minutes, I walked out the front door with my problem still unresolved.
Fortunately, my good friend Jeff recommended I give Hudson Appliance a shot. I truly cannot emphasize enough just how positive this experience was. Rob was my sales associate and went above and beyond. Not only did Rob answer every single one of my questions, he enthusiastically talked shop with me as a fellow griller himself. We exchanged some of our methods and he gave me some great tips to tame the flame. Rob made me feel as if I had known him my entire life and I knew I was in good hands.
My old Weby was gas powered but Rob opened my mind to the world of the pellet grill. I settled on the Weber SmokeFire Black Wood Pellet Grill and let me tell ya, it has not disappointed. The Hudson technician came to my home and did an excellent job installing the grill while answering any questions that arose. After grilling my first ribeye, I was in complete nirvana. Like Rob had promised, the wood pellets in the hopper gave my medium rare steak the perfect smokey taste a gas grill simply could not provide.
Our annual July 3rd party is going to be a huge hit this year when I line my new grill with an endless supply of burgers and dogs. I cannot thank Hudson Appliance and all their employees enough for providing me with this top notch service. You have earned a...
