Bob Evans -Huntersville
It takes a lot for me to have a bad experience or even to write/complain about it, but I felt it was necessary that management was aware of what goes on in their locations, and the type of store managers they have employed.
Grits were hard and chunky
Side of fruit- two pieces of cantaloupe and maybe 6 grapes (not sure of the amount that is typically given for a side with a build your own omelet, but it didn’t seem like the right amount for the meal/price.
First round of biscuits were burnt, hard, and crispy when I pressed into one- when addressing the issue with Jeffrey, I was told that the biscuits come out golden brown like that, then brought us another order of biscuits and they were fresh, soft, and not burnt(dark brown).
Not packed around this time, however it took a while for food to come (longer than usual)
Cooks were in the back wiping nose, and face with and without gloves on
One cook stood in the back texting on his phone in front of the mgr who said nothing
Tonya came to the table and I asked her if the grits were included in the price of the omelet, cutting me off with an attitude she responds “Yes” as I go on to try to tell her what I thought was wrong, with an attitude says “Okay, you don’t like it, now what would you like me to do about it?”
I took a minute before responding to let her know that the quality of the food was not great today and that we use to visit this specific location often and never had an experience like this. Tonya changes her tone completely and now speaks to me respectfully and apologizes and says she will take the omelet off, gave us an extra biscuit that we left because it was also burnt.
Jeffrey comes to the table and doesn’t hand me the new receipt, but kind of lets it fall down on the table turned down and says “We took an omelet off” and before I could even respond, he walks away.
The food quality, cleanliness of the restaurant (there was a weird dog smell that caused me to cover my nose for most of our visit), the uncleanliness of the cooks, and the attitudes of the server and management I felt was unacceptable and uncalled for. As a customer, I wasn’t rude or giving anyone a hard time, just wanted a quality experience which I didn’t get. I sat at the restaurant to write this review for about 10mins and no one has been back to our table since to check on us or say anything or apologize for the bad service/food quality.
The best service I experienced was a gentleman that came to take our plates off of the table. Wish I knew his name.
Oh and to add to this, the girl (Megan I believe) who checked us out asked how was our experience, I responded “not that great but it’s okay.” She didn’t even look up at my daughter and I and was super quick about getting us out of the restaurant and didn’t respond to what I said. Laid my change on the counter, asked if I wanted a receipt, then said have a good day. She could care less honestly, that’s what...
Read moreI hate to write a bad review because I have had many great experiences at other Bob Evans' in the past, but I knew something wasn't right, my wife and I should have walked out. Especially when we sat there over 30 minutes before someone came to take our drink order, it took another 15 minutes to even get our drinks (and not the first refill offered the entire visit). What is even more sad is the fact the restaurant was nearly empty. The main waitress was walking around like a chicken with her head cut off, and getting absolutely nothing accomplished and she seemed absolutely clueless. Even sadder, she was telling people she didn't even work there, and she was only filling in! It only goes downhill from here, once we ordered our appetizers and got them, the food was cold, cheese was not even melted. The honey bacon was really old and cold as well, we had to scrape the bacon out of the hardened honey. The rancher potato appetizer did not taste right as well and the potatoes were not fully cooked. Once we ordered our real food, it also came out cold, and the portions were almost for a kid's plate. We were really tired from being on the road and did not feel like trying to find another spot as this one was right beside our hotel. Not long after we left, my wife and I both got sick and have felt bad all day today. Bob Evans cooperate really needs to work on this location and either find some competent personnel, or do some training. It's one thing to receive have issues with the restaurant is really busy, but they weren't busy at all as the restaurant was nearly empty. Each of the employees acted overwhelmed, I have no clue why. As slack as business was last night, there is no sense in having the poor food quality and service we had. Bob Evans cooperate, you guys really need to address this place before it tarnishes your excellent reputation! Other couples walked out because of the wait, and another couple ordered appetizers, btu when they found out they couldn't get ice cream, they only ate their appetizers paid and left, so you know your business was affected last night, and most likely everyday if this type of...
Read moreQuality of food is poor. Although "taste" is clearly a subjective thing, this was the worst food I've had in decades.
Having gotten that frustration out....let's stay "Glass half full" and look on the bright side, I gained a valuable lesson and found positives from each part of the experience.
First, the importance of accepting full responsibility for your experience was brought front and center and the need to trust my instincts was reinforced. That instinct shown in the urge to immediately leave upon seeing a half empty parking lot when all other breakfast restaurants had 30-50 min waits.
The highlights: seated immediately and the following 40 min wait for our food gave us a chance to have a good long conversation with extra time to catch up on on emails and texts the scrambled eggs came in a patty so you didn't have to see they were uncooked and "runny" underneath got extra hydration (after leaving) b/c you had to drink so much water to compensate for the extremely dry hash browns experienced a new and extremely unusual gravy (color and taste) that allowed you to overlook the stale biscuits didn't have to worry about pesky interruptions to ask if we needed refills or if the food was ok learned that apathy is still alive and well.
So if you have an extremely positive outlook on life and are looking for several unexpected and antithetical positives from a dining experience....then this is the place for you. Enjoy!
P.S. BONUS Positive - you don't need to worry about replying to any follow up contact about your seemingly negative experience from the manager or company (as none of the reviews...
