I hope this review will find a board member or a trustee who has the ability to make a difference within the library community.
This particular library was just newly renovated so i had higher expectations than the surrounding meck libraries. The facility itself is very nice and open with many reading areas for its patrons, however, i was greatly disappointed with its children's area. There are some puzzles, a small chest of blocks, and a small stand for hand puppets along with various games and activities you can play at a table but nothing to involve small children. I understand this is a library and the goal is to engage your toddler with books but there should be more free play activities such as a play kitchen area or a market stand so children can come and use their imagination vs. the typical sit and follow instructions play. And as far as 0 to 3 yr olds, why can't this age group have a small play scape area with foam blocks for building or crawling on. Children of all ages should be able to engage with their peers and learn how to share or ask for something. This community cite should be a place where mom's can come together with their children so they can learn and have fun by using their imagination to free play and explore the area!
Lastly, I have never heard of a person not being able to obtain a library card based solely on their location. I understand that outside counties would not be able to have the same privileges as residents within the county..such as not having access to electronic books, however, this is the closest library location and i was told i couldn't check out books because of where i live. Needless to say i was offended and speechless.
The only reason i gave this library 2 stars is because the building was nicely constructed and had several chairs and...
