Well, I thought I'd give them another shot after 4 years. I ordered Shrimp in Angel hair pasta with Shrimp in Arrabbiata sauce. ( Don't Care for Pene ) Again the arrabbiata is supposed to be "Spicy" not in this Italian place.
I was born in the real Little Italy in the Bronx So to me Italian bread served with dinner is typically a rustic, crusty bread like pane casareccio or ciabatta, what ever they serve here is really bed. Like a Pillsbury pop the canister on the side of the countertop and it cracks open and some kind of dough expands out like their Flaky biscuits. The real star of the meal was the salad. Delicious Italian dressing. Beautiful three styles of lettuce with red onion and carrot Slivers The salad was great.
Now back to my order of the shrimp in Arrabbiata sauce and angel hair pasta instead of penne it was Very very flavorless. Definitely not spicy. I actually took three or four bites one shrimp and said okay. You can pack this to go to me. They're Italian sauces lack. Any real? How does EMERIL say.. There's no "BAM" very blah, blah taste. My bill hit $48 w tip for The entree iced tea...
Read moreMet my buddy here for lunch cuz he's half Italian and always craving pasta. Was out and about with my daughter on her last official day of summer break before school started so I called ahead because of all her food allergies to see if they'd mind us bringing in another establishment's meal just to make things easier and they were totally cool and accommodating. Chilled red wine was unexpectedly refreshing, caprese salad was simple and delicious, steamed mussels were fresh and tasty (nary a closed one), and the sausage was the best I've had among all the other Italian spots in the area. My friend had the lasagna and it just vanished. At first glance, I thought the menu was too simple but afterwards, the food reprimanded me because that is the essence of Italian cuisine - simply prepared dishes using awesome ingredients. I stood corrected. My new go to for Italian. And lastly, a shout out to our server, George - thanks for being so nice and attentive! Will be back soon with the whole fam to try more deceptively simple and...
Read moreFantastic little Italian eatery....it's been in business 20 years or so at the same location I believe. Amazing food...everything I've tried is to die for....Extremely friendly staff, they make you feel like family from the moment you step in...there is a gorgeous fenced in patio that is wonderful on summer nights, with standing heaters for cooler winter evenings. They also have an eclectic wine selection...all food is fresh and made to order. They have separate lunch and dinner menus...both menus have something for everyone...this time for lunch I had the spinach tortillini but paired it with a Alfredo cream sauce and it literally melted in my mouth....My favorite dish here is by far the shrimp saffron risotto, its heavenly. Not sure if its on the menu but the chef will make it for you if you order it. Try it restaurant...you won't be disappointed. Its kind of like Cheers...a large group of warm friendly regulars, mainly at the bar. Either way I'm constantly greeted with hellos from everyone..great...
