A small surf themed diner on Highway 1 in Huntington Beach/Sunset Beach, very close to the water. I live in West Los Angeles, so this area is a lot calmer and less crowded than what I am used to so it’s nice to be able to find easy parking and no lines. It’s right next-door to Harbor House Café, which is also a surf themed diner and between the two I would say that Harbor House is my favorite although Woody’s is another good option, especially if Harbor House is full. There are many Woody’s locations, I believe at least six and none are in the Los Angeles area. They are all in Orange County, this being the most northern one. Our waiter was nice, but the service was very slow. He took a while to take our orders and our food items came out pretty slowly. He also forgot my coffee and gave it to everyone else around me before me, even though I ordered before them, and by the time I inquired about it, they had to brew another batch so I had to wait even longer. They have a tiny parking lot on the side of the restaurant otherwise it’s pretty easy to find free street parking.
For my breakfast I ordered my favorite breakfast dish, which is the Eggs Benedict. I decided to try the Woody’s Benedict, which is basically a regular Benedict with cheese and gravy. I honestly thought it was pretty good and it was extremely filling. The biscuits weren’t very flaky or as good as I hoped, but I still enjoyed them. They tasted a bit like microwave biscuits versus something very fluffy and crispy.
Overall, a nice little surf theme diner in North Orange County. I would recommend if you are...

My boyfriend and I braved the recent So Cal fires and drove down for our friend Zach's surprise 40th birthday party and the coinciding lighted boat parade in Huntington Beach. Before returning home on Sunday morning (Dec. 10th), we stopped a few doors down from our beach-front hotel and grabbed breakfast at Woody's. (Our friend Chad from Phoenix had also attended the party and recommended Woody's to us before hitting the road to go back home himself, since he had just finished breakfast there.)
Dude. So good. Really cute environment and good value on the delicious food, but what really stood out was the service! Our waitress wasn't the only one provided us with great service-with-a-smile throughout the entire meal. Every single staff person we encountered greeted us as they walked by, asked how we were doing, refilled our coffees, cleared plates, etc.. It really seemed like everyone who works there truly loves their job! Plus, they have fantastic deals on morning-time mimosas and Bloody Marys (though, we just stuck to coffee due to the long trek home). $25.71 total for both...
Read moreThis is another good member of the Woody's family overall. There is a great diner atmosphere that's not trying too hard, as well as comparable food. I say comparable because we frequent a different location and they do things just a little better. I had the chicken fried steak with eggs, the steak was good, Woody's does a great one, but my eggs were super runny and inconsistent between our plates compared to our home location. My wife got bad avocado with hers and the hash browns had green onion which you wouldn't think of as too distracting but wow! Were they ever. The service was ok, being a tad smaller than the other location I was hoping for better or equal service but they were kind of hands off. The kitchen staff got several small things wrong, when asked about the issues they often looked at each other like two 15 year old boys and shrugged. Very disappointing, but I would come back being loyal Woody's patrons and the...
