To summarize: the food was pretentious bleh for the money, and this new trend of tipping-for-everything is out of control.
My favorite restaurant in the whole world is Fuddruckers -- they make the best burger & fries I've ever had. But there isn't one in Huntsville, so I'm always on the lookout for a substitute. I decided to give Farm Burger a try. Looking at the menu board, the goat cheese and bone marrow (is this San Francisco?) were red flags -- give me a break. But I was hungry, so I walked up to the register and ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a beer that I knew I liked. I swipe my card, and the screen asks me to choose from an 18%, 24%, or 30% tip, up-front -- for what?? This is before I have tasted the food, and there's no "service" here to tip! You order at the register, they give you a numbered sign, and they bring it out to you, like many fast-food restaurants. I'm fed up with every business insisting on me volunteering to pay their workers for them (Americans invented tipping to reward unpaid slaves for good service), and if customers keep going along with it then more businesses will do it. So, I'm putting my foot down and refusing to tip up-front or when there's no personal service involved, and I chose "no tip". After seeing this, the lady behind the register gave me a nasty look -- for that experience at the register, Farm Burger gets one star for customer service.
When I got my food, I found the meat to be extremely greasy, surprisingly gristly, and the taste was meh (Fuddruckers is better). The fries were good, but a bit soggy/greasy, and overpriced. Sadly, what really struck me was that the tastiest part of my meal was the IPA I picked. So, I'll rate the food three stars, and give Farm Burger a two star...

We have decided to come back to Farm Burger, and have been back several times now. Still havent had the courage to try the house vegan patty that was so bad last time, but now that they carry the Beyond Meat patties, it is a fantastic place to get an excellent vegan burger. The fries have remained fantastic as well.
Overall I highly recommend Farm Burger, as the owners have obviously put in the work to improve their craft.
The sevice has remained excellent as well.
OLD REVIEW FROM 2 YEARS AGO: Honestly, I've had many a burger across the country, worked as a chef in several high end places, I've had a great burger, this isn't one. The burger itself is a decent size patty, but i was asked a cook temp i would like, said medium, recieved a very well done. Like well done++ on a kitchen ticket kind of well done. It was tough, dry and overall just not enjoyable. The list of avaliable toppings is pretty broad, which is a plus, but avoid the mushrooms, they were sautéd to death. Basically rubber disks. My girlfriend had their house made vegan patty, it was an abomination. I had to spit out the piece of patty i tried, it was so bad i couldnt bring myself to swallow it. It tasted like the floor of a kitchen at the end of the night smells.
The fries however, are incredibly good, they do those perfectly. So if you just need a fry fix, this place will do the trick.
Overall, the 30 bucks we spent for the two of us was absolutely...
Read moreWe came on a Saturday afternoon to checm it out -- I got the double bacon cheeseburger. Wife got the daily special (Thanksgiving turkey burger). Kids both got chicken strip kids meals. The DBC burger was good, pickles were tangy. The burger patties were 50% beef, 50% bacon with bacon strips on top (cooked well because of the bacon). Wife liked her turkey burger, said the meat was not dry. Her personal preference was less fried onions and more cranberry but still good. I was not a fan of the fries, needed salt, no real flavoring and the 'natural cut' that leaves skin on. Chicken strips were brined in pickle juice or something, almost no breading but they weren't flavorful much besides an aftertaste, definitely needed sauce. They had some local beers on tap and in a can, no fountain drinks but did serve canned beverages (including Coke Zero, a plus). $50 including a beer not too bad price wise for a fast casual place. Staff was pleasant, not too crowded but busy, food came out hot and quick. Good atmosphere. If you care about locally sourced farm food then the price is definitely good. Would...
