Honestly, I hate writing this. The food here used to be spectacular. I used to work in Hutch about twice a week, and always ate here once if not twice a week. The food used to be indescribable, so delicious. I don't know what's happened to this place since then. Service was extremely friendly as it always has been. You could get a good quality burger, fries, and a shake for a decent price. Everything remains the same except for the quality of their hamburgers. I paid 7 dollars and some change for a nostalgic meal, or so I thought. What I was served was utter disappointment. The meat was equivalent to the hamburger patties in the frozen section at Walmart, sold in cardboard boxes. Dry and overcooked. Not to mention I threw it in the garbage after a mere two bites. What happened to the real beef, remember when you used to serve real food? The bun was stale, and hard. I've always told anyone traveling to or through Hutchinson to stop by Bogey's for some great food. I won't be telling anyone to eat there anymore unless they feel like wasting their hard earned money. As for me, it looks like I'll be searching for somewhere new to eat, as I don't plan on returning to Bogey's.
In response to the comment made by the owner:
I came by this evening, March 7th, around 5 p.m., through the drive thru. The young woman at the window was very kind. She even thanked me for the effort all of the agencies were putting in due to the fires in the area. How kind of her! You stated that you haven't changed any products in years. I can vividly remember being extremely pleased with my meal, every single time. The beef was fresh and delicious, it had so much flavor. How disappointing, I remember how good the...
Read moreBogey's is a long standing tradition in Hutchinson. It is known for its fast and tasty American style cuisine, and it's vast expanse of shakes. They have a Golden Era theme, and boast photos from the 40's, 50's and 60's.
It is often a go-to for families. They serve a good selection of pub/stadium sides, such as cheese sticks, fried pickles, corn nuggets, etc. They also serve fried shirimp, chicken fingers, burgers, sandwiches and salads. The food it fun and easy. There are over 100 flavors of shakes, and you can even custom order your own. The shakes are equivelent to a Blizzard from Dairy Queen, though not quite as thick, but you will definately need a spoon.
They are one of the top employers of teenagers in the city, and have been for decades, which adds to the atmosphere. It is a family owned establishment and the owners are highly involved in the community, including supporting local schools and athletic teams.
The food is not top tier, but for the price point, it's just fine. Most of the fried yummies were pre-cooked and flash frozen prior to cooking, but I"ve never had anything that wasn't perfectly crispy and golden brown. They do have several signature dishes, such as the Blue Dragon Burger.
So if you are ever in Hutch and want some fast, yummy and easy food, give them a try. And you have to get a shake, even if it's the dead of winter. Help keep this local...
Read moreStopped in for the first time after the fair because of the awesome reviews. Score is the average of the following.... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for CUST SERVICE ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for CLEANLINESS ⭐⭐ for their SHAKES. They serve them with a spoon instead of a straw because they are actually a cup filled with soft serve ice cream. I got plain chocolate, it was good, but they are not shakes. They charge .30 for any add in flavors. ⭐⭐ for TASTE. Yes, only 2 stars. Burger patties were super thin, and we're the smaller standard frozen patties, it was juicy tho. Too much bun for so little meat, with no noticable seasoning. Bun was not grilled or warmed and was cold to the touch like it just came out of a fridge. Onion rings were just the frozen bagged kind. ⭐⭐ for value. I paid $10 for a double burger, onion rings, sm drink. Extra $3.75 for a shake. I don't mind spending the money, but factoring in the taste, IMO, I didn't get $14 worth of quality. On a side note, I ordered my burger with only ketchup and raw onions, I received one with everything on it. Second burger had far too much ketchup, so the cold bun was soggy, and, it had fried onions not raw. I didn't return it, I just discarded the soggy top...
