J & J Fish — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

This JJ Fish has terrible customer service and food. They stop taking orders exactly one half hour before they close. Knowing this, I came into their store at 11:29 PM and they told me it was too late to order what I wanted so I would have to settle for wings. That's gross because that is not what I wanted to eat. They're wings are always extremely overcooked, dried out, and salty (with or without the lemon pepper). They're fries are no better—either they're soggy from being cooked in oil that isn't hot enough or lukewarm from being cooked too early and sitting out too long. Furthermore, they do not welcome you into their store. They ask you what you want in an annoyed tone as if you (their prospective patron) are the bane of their employment. On the contrary, you're the only reason they're still in business because you are willing to invest your money in their lack of service, lousy food, and rules for ordering that they make up depending upon what mood they are in or how tired they are. If this JJ Fish and Chicken does not want to serve patrons 1/2 hour to closing, they should add that notice to their advertisement, or, better yet, reduce their publicly advertised hours of operation by 1/2 hour so people don't waste their time showing when it is inconvenient...

I’ve been going to this J & J fish since I was a child going to school at Ariel Community Academy . It’s just as great as it was then as it is today . Always fresh made to order . If you call an order in it will always be ready by the time you get there . They switch cashiers fairly frequently so I’ve learned to shrug off if I come in and one has an attitude because I’ve learned they’ll have a new cashier by my next visit . I cannot remember the name of one young lady who was extremely exceptional at her job . She went above and beyond to ask me if I wanted extra napkins or condiments . She wasn’t stingy with the lemon pepper as others who would only lightly dash it which you couldn’t even taste . Hate to say it but this place is hit or miss (hence 3 stars).

My typical order is a large perch dinner. And sad to say you just have to hope for the best. I've had orders that were cooked and seasoned perfectly and I've had orders you almost wanted to take back. My most recent experience was a good one as my fish order was huge but the fries were stale.

What makes this location better than some of the others is the fact they serve fish, chicken and shrimp and have combo options. One of the biggest drawbacks is the service. It's one of those spots where people make their orders depending on who they know is back there cooking LOL. And definitely call in before otherwise you will be waiting for eternity.
