Our organization recently rented the Harold Washington Cultural Center for our senior graduation ceremony, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this venue based on our experience. From the start, there were several concerns. Parking was limited and inconvenient for guests. Upon arriving, we discovered that the restrooms were not properly maintained—no tissue or soap, and a toilet seat was actually on the floor. This lack of basic preparation was completely unacceptable for an event of this significance. The staff member assigned to our event was also disappointing. Initially, she intended to leave right after letting us in, showing minimal interest in supporting the event. However, once she learned that the mayor would be attending, she decided to stay. Instead of being helpful, she began overstepping her role and tried to take control of our operations—something that was not only inappropriate but also disruptive. What made this even more unprofessional was that she was walking around in a casual blue jogging suit, which was not appropriate attire for a formal graduation event. Beyond staffing issues, the condition of the venue itself was lacking. The upstairs rooms had poor air circulation and became uncomfortable quickly. The auditorium aisles were narrow, making movement difficult, and the white walls in the lobby were noticeably marked up with scuff marks, giving the space a neglected appearance. Overall, I was very disappointed by both the facility and the service we received. For a milestone event like a graduation, we expected professionalism, cleanliness, and basic hospitality—none of which were adequately provided. I would strongly encourage others to consider alternative venues for their special events.

This is the central library at 400 S. State street 60605. There's more to a library experience than books! We had fun with interactive toys. We saw one of a kind art, visited the media center (a great and safe teen hangout), then on our way out picked up a Passport to the Chicago History Museum. Go, explore, learn and have fun!!! Check out the Events page for free, out-of-the-ordinary productions.

Located at the corner of 4700 S. King Dr. The facility was cold and most uncomfortable. At intermission a staff member curled up near a heat vent in the vestibule. Carpet was shamefully in need of a vacuuming, a tear in the carpet was partially held together by duct tape. The cast made the best of a time period sctipt laced with modern colloquial language. Speakers seemed to work only on one side of the auditorium while the microphones went out during several songs and monologues. Character development? Continuity of story line? Dead time on stage? Who researched this???? Bronzeville is willing to support "Broadway in Bronzeville". Please make appropriate improvements to warrant the price...
