Long time customer, very sad to say good bye. Family ran business great concept, however the mother managing the establishment is damaging the business productivity, astomphere, supplies, food inventory, and costing the company big on customer service.
I witnessed the managing yell at customers and tell them don't come back. When things like this happens the 1st thing I think about is that could be me. Same visit, moments later the owner come in the manager attitude became better. But the customers where gone. Our food wasn't right, we was just willing to pay and not return because we didn't want to Subject to what we saw. The owner saw we hadn't touched our food. We didn't notice she looked at our food and immediately confirmed it wasn't made correctly. Rebound! between her and DJ the waiter great come back food was remade and tasted awesome.
Yesterday we was riding pass decided to give it another go. The mother was greeting , and answering the phones. We stood 15 min before DJ walked pass asked if we was dining in we said yes. Waited for a table for 2 from 8pm to 9:23 pm. Now we are pressed to order because the restaurant closes at 10. No worries we was ready to order. Basic order 2 bags garlic butter lemon pepper one hot one extra hot , and 20 hot wings. The wings was fresh great job! The bag was a fail full of hot pepper and water . We could see the issue so we just asked for a bag of garlic butter we could add to the bags. DJ was very apologetic in tried to reason with the manager yup the mother. She never came to the table but we could hear her conversation. Now at this point I'm ready to go. We asked for the bill, just to pay and go. Instead she sent DJ back to the table to request the food back. So here we sit after 2 1/2 hours of waiting for food having to leave and eat else where. I paid the 23.00 for the wings tipped DJ . 2 bags of food was thrown in the garbage because we heard the manager say they just want something for free take the bags. 👀 WE ASKED FOR GARLIC BUTTER NOT A COMP ON THE BILL MY WIFE NOR I AM CAME LOOKING FOR DRAMA WE CAME TO HAVE A LATE NIGHT MEAL AFTER A LONG FLIGHT HOME. BE MINDFUL THE CUSTOMER CAN HEAR YOU. THE RESTAURANT LOST MONEY IN EVERY ASPECT BEHIND THIS. NO CUSTOMER IN THEIR RIGHT MIND COMES TO A RESTAURANT EXPECTING NOT TO PAY FOR WHAT THEY CAME FOR. SO AT THIS POINT WE WILL NOT COME BACK. I HOPE THIS REVIEW REACHES THE OWNER AND COULD BE USED AS A TEACHING MOMENT ON HOW THE RESTAURANT TOOK A BIG LOSS ALL AROUND. AND I...
Read moreUPDATE Returned 4 days later and oh my the experience was waaaaaaaay better and let me tell you, DJ and Alicia changed my entire view of this restaurant. A friend asked me to meet her there and I wasn't sure about returning so soon but the food is good and I want to support and she had never been. Glad I came back, I received the experience I had hoped for. DJ was knowledgeable, attentive and he was the only server with 8+ tables and I couldn't tell if he missed a beat, he was on point. My food was timely and my appetizers came first and I had ample time to eat them before my entree. Super impressed with their energy and ability to anticipate guest needs. Will definitely request DJ on my next visit.
**9.23.21 visit below Space and food are good but the inconsistency in service concerns me. As a small business owner in the Bronzeville area and a 20 yr veteran in the hospitality industry, I thought it impractical and poor business etiquette for the host to tell me they weren't seating anymore at 7pm, when the establishment doesn't close til 8. I can understand if I walked in at 745, of course usher me to carry out, however a full hour. Luckily my party had just arrived and sat 2 mins earlier. However when I arrived at the table I was told that the server insisted they order now and that they order for me, luckily I was ok with their selections. We were meeting there at 7 and no one was late or delayed. I'm confused as to why we were rushed and the food literally appeared at the table at 709. Being that we ordered the special and I would've liked to have ordered additional items but wasn't given the opportunity. The staff was not rude, just misguided it seemed. I would think as a restaurant owner, where food is a complete loss if not sold, that the staff would be encouraged to upsell apps, add ons, and remain open for dine in guests til close (and as a server with a built in gratuity, that's a no brainer...the more guests the more money). This is not a bad review, it is an observation on how guests can be turned off when they are turned away prematurely or underwhelmed by a dining experience. Because I've managed restaurants in Chicago and Las Vegas I am never opposed to tipping wait staff or a take out person, but I do not feel as though I received a proper 2 fish experience. I could've just took it to go and called it. But as a Black business owner and consumer, we must support and relay observances...
Read moreThe worst experience I have ever had since I been going there. Went on a Wednesday which is a special day wasn’t too busy. We sat down at our table took a while to place our orders. Mind you it wasn’t that busy we sat down at 3:15 and they had just opened their doors for business. There is no circulation of air at all so if you go on a hot day just know if you get hot you will definitely be hot and sweating. I couldn’t even finish or enjoy my food because the temperature inside was ridiculously hot. I placed my order which was a pound of crab legs and a lobster tail in my bag. It took almost an hour to get our food. Once the food comes out I started to eat my crab legs once I finished them I started to look for my lobster tail which was never in the bag. I told my server that the lobster tail was not in the bag he let me know that he would tell the manager but he knows for a fact that they wasn’t going to do anything about it. He told us the manager will be out well it took her 45 minutes to come out. The manger is the owners mother so would think she has some respectful business like mannerism. Well not she came out and said well the cook said she put it in there and you had the bag to long so that’s it. Like what lady we tried to show them the bucket where the crab legs was emptied into and there was no empty lobster tail in the bucket so if I was given the tail why can’t you find it in the bucket or on the table. Then the cooks come out trying to go back and fourth saying God watching you and he know you ate that lobster tail but I’m give it to you anyway. This establishment made a lot of changes with the customers instead they should’ve started with the back of the house and training on customer Etiquette. I been going since the day they opened but I know for a fact I want be going back. For you to basically tell me I stole a lobster tail is crazy. The owner definitely need to do some Reevaluation...
