I’d never been to Gandolfo’s before and decided to give it a try after a long night of work. Upon entry, I was immediately greeted warmly by one of the workers; the smell of bacon, warm bread, and coffee permeate the air, culminating in a welcoming experience for a new customer. At the register, I informed the friendly woman that I was new and didn’t know what to order. She thanked me for coming to give Gandolfo’s a try, did a little dance with me, and asked what I felt like I was in the mood for. Once giving some details, she recommended the Dagwood sandwich; I’d wanted something with a lot of protein and calories as I’d just gotten off work and the gym. I didn’t catch her name, but I’m sure you will be able to figure out who this spectacular person who helped me was! She so kindly gave me a piece of cake as well, a special touch to an already extremely pleasant interaction.
The sandwich itself is very tasty and filling, perfect if you need protein, calories, and a happy belly. I will be returning. Thank you for making my...
Read moreThe food is delicious. But they truly are New York style. My fiancée got the taxi driver (6.99) and I got the Hampton (6.99) and ended up getting charged 19.00 (say what?!). When they offered deli salad and chips, we said we’d take just the sandwiches but they said they were included. On a previous time here, I got the knuckle sandwich, and wasn’t even offered chips and my order cost exactly what I expected. When my fiancée was ordering his sandwich, he asked to see the sizes they were- to understand the difference in size vs. price. They said they were the same size and didn’t show him a piece of bread or whatever to gauge it, so he said he’d get the “regular” size, since they were the same size, and was charged 10.00 instead of the 6.99 advertised for the half-even though they’re apparently the same size??? When trying to talk to them about it, they didn’t really seem to get what I was talking about. I’m not very confrontational so I didn’t push it, but looking back I really don’t understand what the extra money (excluding tax) was for. Just like NY-hidden...
Read morePossibly the most positive experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant.
Upon walking in, I was greeted by all the employee’s, and in a way that felt less like a deli and more like home.
The menu was a bit intimidating, and so as per usual, I ask for a recommendation on the food. They recommended “The Knuckle.” It was a hot pastrami sandwich with mushrooms and some other toppings.
The sandwich was good! I mean, you really can’t go wrong with a pastrami sandwich, and I had a side of coleslaw. It’s not the best sandwich I’ve ever had, but good enough for a bite to eat after work.
However, I cannot emphasize enough how incredible the staff was. I, and a few other people who went through while I was eating, all left extremely happy. One of the people mentioned it was their first time, and the cashier called over another employee and they did a little happy dance. They were joking around with another customer, and even had me laughing at my table.
Worth going back to be there again, definitely explore the menu a bit.
