Prior to our recent trip through the state of Idaho, we made reservations at Holiday Inn Express at both the Boise and Idaho Falls locations. Since the experiences were so much alike, I’ve decided to combine my comments in this survey.
The good news is that the price was reasonable and the rooms were nice, spacious, and comfortable. The bathrooms were large and modern.
Unfortunately, the staff made some unforced errors that could have been handled differently. The Idaho Falls location had an annoying air conditioner that kept cycling on and off—something that will drive you crazy in the middle of the night. We sought to resolve this issue. After waiting nearly an hour for the maintenance man (who doubled as the van driver to the airport), he arrived to inspect the unit. His final fast-talking assessment declared that our air conditioner was one of the “new models” that are made to cycle so that the compressor won’t freeze up. He wasn’t accepting any contrary views from me or my wife.
The breakfast at Idaho Falls was adequate, but I would suggest warming the food a bit more. The eggs and sausage were not much above room temperature. Also, I’d recommend some fresher bananas.
The Boise location was nicely furnished. But when we checked in, the young man at the desk told me that our room was not yet ready. No problem, we could come back later. We agreed on one hour, so my wife and I went to dinner and did a little shopping. I was confident that we allowed sufficient time to pass. However, upon our return (4 p.m.), the young man explained to me that the room was not yet ready; something about being short of staff. This conversation was taking place while a young lady at the other end of the counter was apologizing for something to another customer over the phone.
The young man asked, “What floor would you like to be on?”
“First floor, please,” I replied. He then informed me that the only room he had for us was on the top (4th) floor. (Why ask?). We decided to check into that room.
It’s obvious that Holiday Inn has invested a good deal of money in creating a nice atmosphere for weary travelers. I would simply suggest that you increase the training...
Read moreWe checked into your hotel around 2:00 AM and booked a double queen bed room for approximately $215. Upon entering the room, we were shocked to find hair everywhere — on the bed, towels, and even inside the fridge. I immediately contacted the front desk to request a room change, but the staff member on duty insisted it was just an accident and offered only to change the sheets.
I explained that it was already 2:30 AM, and we were extremely tired after a long drive. I asked again for a different room, but she refused. When I removed the sheets to show her the condition of the bed, we were horrified to find visible blood stains underneath — clearly indicating that the sheets had not been changed or properly cleaned. Only then did she agree to assign us another room.
At that point, she offered us a room with one king bed. I reminded her that we were three guests and had booked a room with two queen beds for that reason. Initially, she said only a king room was available. After a few minutes of discussion, she suddenly “found” a double queen room and asked us to wait.
Unfortunately, even in the second room, we again found hair on the bed, clearly showing that proper cleanliness standards were not being maintained. By this time, it was nearly 3:00 AM. We were exhausted, frustrated, and disappointed — and throughout the entire experience, we received no sincere apology or meaningful support from the staff or management.
This experience was not only extremely disappointing and unhygienic but completely unacceptable, especially considering the premium rate we paid. I sincerely hope you take this matter seriously and take immediate steps to improve both cleanliness protocols and staff responsiveness.
I would appreciate a formal response and an appropriate resolution or compensation for this...
Read moreWhat a gem this was. Booked on a discount site and let hotel choose the room since just 2 in our party. Lucked out and got a 2 Queen suite.||It wasn’t too busy for a Friday night, at least so we thought when we checked in, looked like about 50+ cars in the parking lot when we left, though. ||Beautiful room, with Queen sized sofa bed as well, nice kitchenette, decent sized bathroom, make up vanity. We couldn’t ask for anything more- it was all there and then some.||I ventured down to the gym, decent sized with a very nice Matrix rowing machine, a stationary bicycle, 3 treadmills, and 2 or 3 ellipticals as well as free weights and a bow flex type machine. ||No place to put my jacket, so maybe a few coat hooks on the wall would be helpful, maybe it’s a Covid thing?||I also used the pool and hot tub. Huge pool-way larger than most hotel pools. Says 5 foot deep, but I am 5’5” and could just barely touch bottom.||Very clean water, but it is time to clean the grout and the ceiling vents. ||Hot tub is outside next to the pool in a fenced area with a very nice patio and gas fireplace. Unfortunately, it was a cool 50 to 60 degrees out and I accidentally turned on the fireplace trying to turn on the hot tub, so maybe label these controls? ||The fireplace was blowing so much I could smell the fuel, so got out of hot tub and turned it off. The hot tub was nice and hot but did have a few bugs and some sand in it, so I suspect that they will need to enclose this area with some type of solarium or something similar, especially since Idaho falls will have snow in winter. ||A phenomenal stay overnight and I cannot complain. Great burgers at Burger theory as...
