Abracadabra's was relying on magic to hide the lack of hospitality, agonizingly slow service and attention to details when it comes to food preparation and presentation. A sign greets you at the door that immediately lets you know, you are welcome ONLY if you want to eat and run. Please do NOT linger (at least for more than 20 minutes after your meal) but I guess since it takes an excruciatingly long time to get your food (We waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive) while you wait at a sticky table with water that tastes like drinking straight from the community pool you should be fine to quickly exit the restaurant once you consume their food. I say their because it was not made to our requests. I was also surprised by the snarky comment given when asked how long the wait was to be expected. "How long is a piece of string?" was his reply. Never heard that one from what appeared to be upper level management and not a regular hostess. How is that for a welcome? I'm not sure why I chose to stay and support a local business after such a "warm" welcome. Next, when our food FINALLY arrived (as mentioned, 45 minutes later, for two Fanatic Farmers and the Captain Crunch French Toast), the onions I asked to be omitted was added, my over medium egg was served over hard which ruined the Fanatic Farmer in my opinion, and the toast that was served was with the meal did not include a bread plate. The lack of a bread plate presented a huge problem. Maybe that was why the table was so sticky. The bread kept falling off the weirdly wavy bowl, jam side down though I must admit the raspberry jam is delicious! Thankfully, my toast did not fall off jam side down, but I was faced with an uncomfortable dilemma: Where to put the toast while eating the meal? I could not hold both pieces at once, but where do I put the other piece while eating the entree. So the extra piece wobbled around precariously as it tipped and rolled as I tried desperately to avoid any onions that I asked to not be there in the first place. I really HATE onions. So, overall my experience was a two star experience. It definitely could have been better. The service was poor although the waitress did offer to have my meal remade but after waiting 45 minutes for food, I did not feel like waiting any longer. The others in my party did not enjoy their food either. The other Fanatic Farmer entree had had their eggs over cooked and the Captain Crunch French Toast with added eggs/bacon had their eggs under cooked. None of our party finished our meals due to a lack luster performance and chose not to take them home. In an effort to try and support an Idaho business rather than a chain, I was expecting more magic in the...
Read moreFirst I would like to give a positive, our waitress was absolutely incredible. She was kind, she explained things well, told us it was going to be a little bit longer wait for our food and she was attentive. Great service. But unfortunately this place was a major let down. We were excited after finding this place on google. The food sounded amazing. When we arrived there was a wait to be seated. We said, “this must be a great place if there is a wait and it’s this packed out.” Well, that sure wasn’t the case. The food was one of the worst I have ever had. The biscuits could have been used as a hocking pucks, it was burnt so bad and hard that we couldn’t finish it. The chicken was also burnt along with my daughter’s ham. The gravy had no flavor and I mean none. It was like brown flour that was liquified. My other daughter’s eggs were brown and full of grease. We got the peach cobbler French toast and it was ok. The best of the entire meal but still wasn’t like wow. The menu said it was $16 something and we were charged $20 something. The atmosphere was dark and out dated. With a name like abracadabra I think this place could have popped and been so fun and exciting. My opinion on that! It’s almost like the cooks just didn’t care. The table next to us had burnt sausage in both plates. I was hoping when seeing that, they ordered it that way but when getting ours I was like oh no. This isn’t going to be good. I think this place could come to life but it’s going to need some work and training for the cooks. Nothing shouldn’t be that burnt, hard and stale. Eggs shouldn’t be drowning in grease, and gravy shouldn’t taste like flour and water. I know this place has great potential, location is great, the name is fun and the food items seem amazing. Just time to make the product match the rest...
Read moreI will never eat here again. I want to start out by saying I think this is probably my first bad review I have ever left. I am not a complainer and very easy going but this was gross and needed to be shared, and being a business owner of 16 years in the service industry I would have never dealt with it the way it was handled. I ordered my meal and when it came out I went to put some salt on my eggs, the shaker was broke and spilled literally all over my food, to the point it was piled on and over the bacon and table. I tried to scape it off but it was not edible. I kindly asked if they could remake the meal (I usually would’ve just not ate it but it wasn’t my fault and I am 9 months pregnant and was hungry) and the waitress took the plate saw the broken shaker and said they would. When she brought it back out the eggs were warm so I assumed they had made a new meal, but the first bite in was so extremely salty I knew it was the same food. Then noticed salt on parts of my bacon still. It took the waitress 15 min to even come ask how our food was when she finally came I nicely explained to her that I believed that it was same food, she then asked the cook and he ADMITTED that he just scraped my food off put it on the warmer on a new plate and reserved it! I ONLY ate a bite from that plate and shared my friends meal. They offered to discount me my drink… which then I asked to talk to a manager. The manager only would discount me $1.80 off of a $18.00 meal that I COULD NOT eat. The fact that they hand scraped and handled my food and then served it back is completely disgusting and so not sanitary to me. And then tried to pull it off that they “remade it”…. And insisted I paid for the meal. I’m so sad because I usually love this place but it’s a hard no...
