I was out running errands today and needed a caffeinated beverage. Lucky for me, Black Rock was right in my area so I headed in with my daughter.
This joint is a lot smaller than the two I have previously been to. It's about half the size of the other two so to me it's more for drive thru business than it is to chill and hang out. Much like the other location off Ustick, there was a colorful wall that added such a fun vibe to the place. There were a couple tables to hang out at. I do appreciate how big the counter is! It's inviting and allows a nice space for you to order your drink.
As much as I wanted to grab another delicious pumpkin spice chai, I decided to go with my normal. I snagged a small iced americano with sugar free white chocolate and cream. My daughter grabbed a small iced lime and kiwi fuel energy drink. The sweet gal behind the counter got our orders squared away and got to working on them.
We hung out at one of the small tables while our drinks were getting made. It did take a minute cause there were a couple drive thru orders. But our drinks were made in no time and enjoyed them for a bit at the table.
My daughter's drink was ready first and of course I had to try it. It was a fun green color. The Kiwi and lime added a clean fruity taste the the fizzy energy drink. Energy drinks aren't my thing but it was tasty. My americano came out shortly after hers. It was the perfect shade of coffee. You can tell there was enough cream to espresso. It wasn't watered down and it had a nice amount of ice. I did add a packet of sweetner cause I just needed it to be a tad sweeter. It was perfect! It was much needed after running around all afternoon.
I have been to three different Black Rocks in the last two weeks and they have all been great! This little joint is right next to my husband's work so it will be an easy place to hit up right before I drop off his lunch. I appreciate the convenience of this joint being right off Fairview. They pushed out such a great cup of coffee for my today. I look forward to...
Read moreIt was their Grand Opening today. Even though this was a very simple order, they got it wrong: ordered Hot Chocolate with coconut flavor and whipped cream. Got home and it was plain hot chocolate. The 2nd drink was Chai Latte; it was "ok" - nothing memorable.
There was 1 car in front of us, but still had to wait about 5 minutes to move 12 feet to the window. Once there, our order was ready to go. We asked the person at the window which drink was the Hot Chocolate and which one was the Chai Latte? They had to take the lid off of one to determine which one was which. Seems like they could have marked the contents? Maybe my expectations are too high?
In addition, the Drive Thru has 2 lanes (one for each side of the building). The "inside" lane is a very tight "hair-pin" turn. So if you don't have a compact car with a tight turning radius, stay to the left. We had to back-up to make the turn ...and still had to get out of the car to get our drinks.
Granted - this is their opening day, I guess they have some "kinks" to work out. I have heard good reviews on their coffee drinks, but our experience was pretty dismal...
Read moreI am a doordash driver, and I had a pickup from this black rock coffee location yesterday (Friday) mid morning. I asked about the order when I arrived, and they seemed unaware of the order at that point. I waited at least 15 minutes while they made drinks for multiple cars in the drive through and didn't start my two drinks for my order. I heard one barista say "oh shoot door dash" like they had forgotten about it, and one barista finally started the order after 15 minutes. I had continued to stand near the counter the whole time and asked a couple of times about the order during my wait. I think our rating actually got dinged for this order by doordash despite the fact that I communicated with the customer and doordash the whole time, the order iust was so late. The bummer is that it makes me hesitant to accept black rock coffee orders on doordash for fear that it will hurt my ratings. I hope this issue can be discussed with employees so that doodash customers' orders get attention just like drive through customers'...
